Tips and neat thing to know about the German persona.
Guy's I'm just starting out and I wanted to know if there is any general tips you could give me about creating a German Persona for playing airsoft.
What do I have? Splinter camo Heer 31 (pants & top) AGM MP44 with 3 mags. Mp44 mags pouches. Plastic helmet A rounded but not total knowledge of ww2. Questions on the top of my head: Where's the best place to get Y straps? I was thinking of using the bread bag as a mag dump pouch would this work? I have glasses what options do I have for period (ish) eye protection? Is there any pit falls to look out for?

You have 3 hicaps, you should be good on the bread bag for a dump pouch.
My y-straps are from military tour. I wouldn't get leather products from Hiki in my opinion. Shitty quality leather and really thin. I'd recommend the sale ones from At the Front. They peel a bit but with leather care should hold up well. Top quality product from them as well. Tip: get some Feldgrau. You'll look more like a Soldat then with the splintertarn.

I'd ditch the plastic helmet, do it right or not at all They really are not that heavy. At first I was thinking "No way I can wear this bugger all day!" But within a couple of hours, I forgot the damn thing was even on my head! Hah. Now I have love for my helmet, it's protected me on a few occasions.
+1 to the field grey. If you want some camo, pick up a Zeltbahn and use it as a poncho.

Thanks for the reply's guys!
I'm also thinking of doing Kaos mag mod to the hi-caps so that 's why I'm thinking about the bread bag. So the military tour straps for $40 are good? I'll be getting a steel helmet down the road and a cap. The field grey I'm going to be getting for my winter gear. The cammo is for high summer (which is maybe 2 month here in newfoundland). Are the tent poncho's ok for rain gear? what's the AGM mp 44 like in the cold? (-10 is very low in NL)

Well a persona is a mask or role you put on for a short time. In this case I want to look though the eyes of a German solider for a short time as he fights a small battle. I don't us the term impression because that employ's that I want to be one or wish to mimic them in thought and action.
I come from the SCA where this difference was made clear to me. Persona: a mask but you don't change the way you think. Impression: total replacement of your self for an other for a time. It's not a easy thing to tell the difference between.

I was going to suggest to act like the model of efficiency and the rest has been covered ")

Make sure you've got good gloves on when holding the STG in the cold, all that metal gets cold QUICK!
Mine so far has been fine. Have a KA drop in mechbox with a modify hopup and modify barrel in mine With the mags being so big, the breadbag fills up quick and makes fair bit of noise with just 3 mags in it. If I have 4, I start to feel a little worried if one will fall out, but it does work. I'll be getting my zelt soon, but I'll be giving it a dose of rain protector just to make sure. Better safe then sorry Welcome to the cool kid club!

It depends what you want to do. Do you want a german WWII theme or are you interested in a quality portrayal?
If the latter I would spend alot of time on this forum: http://forum.axishistory.com/ Alot of great resources there. Try to pick a specific unit/year and you can get a more accurate of those troops. Alot of things changed between 39-45 and it can be hard to make an impression without a specific reference. You can even look at getting into some of the smaller items that make a good impression great (slick back hair with brylcream, soldier pay book, period foods in the breadbag etc...). A few years ago there were some decent replica helmets avalible in HK through ebay...with a cover on they look convincing enough for airsoft (wore one in real reenacting even). Also look into ways to break your gear so it actually looks right...too many impressions (from any war...) look sparkling clean and out of place.
