difference between mp5 bodies
I was wondering, why is there 2 different models of body (maybe more?). What it the main difference (besides the look, obviously )?
MP5A2 version 1 MP5A2 version 2

The look, that's it. There's two versions because they're also two (actually more) versions with the real MP5.

The one at the bottom is colloquially called the Navy trigger group because it's found on the MP-5 Navy. The one on top is the original trigger group found on older models. From wiki...The “S” or Sicher position in white denotes weapon safe, “E” or Einzelfeuer in red represents single fire, and “F” or Feuerstoß (also marked in red) designates continuous fire.

Alsom the bottom one would be closer to MP5 A4 than A2...

Yes, bottom is an A4 Navy. Delete the solid stock, put a slider stock in it's place, run a smooth forestock, and you have an A5.

If your an MP5 fan, does it make any difference what lower receiver is available or is it just a question of aesthetics?

the SEF trigger group is simply a much older style. I've seen ETF running around with the old ones, and light forearms, so they are still in use. I don't know if the older SEF style is metal or polymer, but the newer 'navy' lowers are definitely polymer.

I've owned both types of lowers in the classic army brand. The one with E F and S didn't have issues with the selector switch. The other style had problems where my hand would always accidentally push it into the dead spot between semi and full auto. very frustrating.
