Question about a battery charger
Hey, as you can see I have a question about a battery charger.
My brother picked up a smart charger today from Toronto Airsoft (which was awesome of him). The charger is the EV-650 with the dean connectors. The battery I have is a 8.4v mini battery (NiMH 2/3A 1.2V, 1600mAh, 10C discharge rate). The charger is set to NiMH charge Man Current 1.0A. Can someone give me more information, I don't want to damage the battery or the charger. Thanks, Shinigami |

My battery is at 1100mAh and the charger is at 250mAh,
If I remember correctly, Justin at Toronto AS said 1100/250 will require about 4.5 hours of charge. I used the cheap wall charger that came with it. I am sure there are other experts on the forum that can provide more technical info. But hopefully that can give you started. |

What additional information did you want? You didn't actually ask a question...
If you are just looking for verification of these settings, yes they are fine. |

You could set the charge current to 1.6Amp of you want but if you seriously want to be as safe as possible you could charge at .8Amp.
For the record I charge my 9.6V 2800mAh pack at 3.5Amps if I need a quick charge, otherwise they're typically charging at 2.8Amp.

I'm really just wondering if the settings on the charger are set correctly. Thanks for your feed back, so far.

1A is fine. I charge those kinds of batteries at 1.5-2A all the time and no issues.

I have the same charger from them. One problem I had was that I set the voltage cut-off too low not knowing that batteries charge at several volts higher than the battery's voltage. I found a good tutorial video on Youtube but I can't link you to it at the moment. It was good to get an explaination of all the settings and what they were for. The butchered English manual was no help to me.

That's the same problem I have, lol
I've asked some people and they said the settings are correct and that it should charge the battery in about 4 hours. I guess I'll just have to wait for the charger to beep at me when it's done. Thanks for all the help guys. :-) |
