CA g36 issues
I've got a gearbox not performing up to potential... the spring is an shs 120 and the gearbox is only doing about 370 with .2s It should be in the 380-420 range.
Internals are Lonex type 1 cylinder SHS piston aoe corrected lonex ver3 cylnder head with 3/16 sorbo right on top of the stock rubber pad lonex nozzle standard CA gears CA red torque motor rhopped prommy eg 407mm barrel with shaved lonex 70 bucking with mnub Also getting same fps with a standard lonex 50 bucking with no rhop Getting the same fps with shs hopup CA hopup Compression through to the nozzle is damn near perfect. Compression through the hopup doesn't leak. I tested with tissue on the ejection port and on the feed tube during firing, no apparent airleaks... looked down the barrel with a flashlight, no light coming though with nozzle full forward. Previously I was severely undervolumed on the cylinder (was a type 2) when I installed the sorbo, that's why it was shooting under 250 with it installed. FPS is a lot better with the type 1, but should I be going to a full cylinder? Am I still under volumed with the sorbo directly on top of the original rubber pad? When I got the gun, hopup full on or full off would have no effect on fps. It still doesn't. So this indicates an air leak somewhere that isn't obvious. Someone was telling me that the stock plastic hopups on g36s are inferior to the metal units because of thin plastic flexing during firing, is there any truth to this? |

First you are getting the correct FPS for a 120 spring.
You probably will cause some other issues with the sorbo on top of the regular rubber, that that will come later (expect gears/piston damage..) And G36 hop-ups are the best around, except for P90s (which are also plastic). You WANT something that flexes to conform to the nozzle and rubber... guess why the rubber is... rubber and not hard nylon or even metal... |

that doesn't explain the magic hopup. full on or off doesn't effect fps at all when it should.
Also the spring is rated for 400-420. Might just be that it's an SHS spring... but atm I don't have another known spring on hand to try it. The guarder sp110 I have in my p90 is doing 400 even. I'm extremely hesitant to pull apart a beautifully working gun just to try and fix a poorly working one, else I could end up with 2 really shitty working guns. As for sorbo on top of rubber pad, it was better for the aoe than to remove the pad. I didn't like the engagement without the original pad and the sorbo, at the spot it sits now the sector tooth meets face to face and evenly with the pickup tooth. |

What piston head are you using?
From my personal experience, and I haven't validated this yet, there's such a thing as too tight of a seal for the piston head o-ring. The idea is to have a weak seal when you slowly push the piston in, but the port on the piston head would cause the Oring to seal properly when it is pushed quickly. Switching piston head orings increased fps for me. |

it's an entire lonex compression set, the non POM piston head (so aluminum I think) in a type 1 cylinder and v3 cylinder head and nozzle it all came as a kit.
Is it possible the seal is too good and the piston just isn't accelerating to full speed before the BB leaves the barrel? I was reading up on some cylinder theory and piston acceleration, a few people have mentioned that a type0 cylinder would be better suited for a 407 barrel, contrary to what the stats say, I'm thinking there could be some truth to it, especially considering I have such a large pad at the front eating up some volume. |
