G&G M4 Floating Handguard Barrel Nut
Ok guys, so I have a G&G M4 with a floating handguard. I'd like to change the outerbarrel, and do a few other changes to it, BUT: I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the barrel nut.
The style I have is shown here in this exploded diagram from G&G: http://www.guay2.com/web/drawings/16/CRW_explode.pdf the sub-diagram CRW-03 shows the section I am talking about. Now, my problem. I can see that there is a threaded pin that acts as the 'gas tube', but two pins that APPEAR to push in to each side. I cannot seem to remove those two side pins to begin the process. Nor, do I know if I even HAVE to to begin the procedure. If anyone has experience with this I would LOVE a hand. Thanks in advance! edit: Even if someone knows what this style of barrel nut/delta ring is CALLED, so I can research it, even that would be more than enough help to get me started. I'm simply at a loss on how to begin. Last edited by Jaxm; November 17th, 2012 at 20:12.. |

The delta ring needs a delta ring wrench. |

You're thinking of a barrel nut spanner. I have one of those, and that's not the issue. Take a look at the diagram and you will understand.

My cqd has the same arrangement. To pull the nut off, loosen the outer nut & take rail off. Take a screw driver and pull out the gas tube screw. Should have a slot in it. It's threaded to barrel nut iirc. Once out put the rail back on with those floating pins & unscrew the entire assembly from the upper receiver.

If so, what direction does it thread off, because I tried that, and got no result. Admittedly I didn't try very HARD because I didn't want to risk breaking anything if I was doing it wrong.... |

Outer barrel nut will thread off standard ccw with the nut spinning towards the upper receiver. It's captured between upper & barrel nut
Hold rails on one hand & outer nut in other hand and twist lefty loosie Last edited by cetane; November 19th, 2012 at 21:07.. |
