King Arms Oberland OA-15 M8 Feeding Failure
I purchased a King Arms Oberland Arms OA-15 M8 from Toronto Airsoft as a Christmas gift for my son. He has fired less than a full mag (300 round stock with the gun) and it is having feeding issues.
On semi-auto, it fires 3-4 BB's and then stops firing BB's, although the motor is cycling. On full-auto, it fires 1-2 BB's and then stops, although again the motor is cycling. We have tried a second magazine (also 300 round) from a "Bushmaster"AEG of th same type, with the same results. We are using .20 gram Crossman BB's. I can see that others here snear at such "cheap" ammo, but that is what we have right now. I have read in the Dr forum that one fella had a King Arms M4 with a broken "bucking" that did the same thing, and yet others suggested magazine problems and filing down a BB retention tab helped. This is a brand new gun, and I am hesitant to modify anything seriously yet. Suggestions as to a remedy or opinions of how to deal with this issue welcome. Thanks, Clint |

First try different bb's. I had some crappy .2 bio's (Walmart or CT) and they would not feed in hicap mags or low/mid ones.
Cheapest and easiest fix is better bb's. Rule that out first as a problem before looking further |

The quickest way to get a resolution to the problem?
Take it to Toronto Airsoft and they should be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with it quite quickly. That's the luxury of buying from a walk-in store. It honestly could be anything from a bad bucking, bad hop-up, faulty nozzle, faulty tappet plate, bad mags, bad mag catch, bad ammo, etc. Last edited by Stealth; December 28th, 2012 at 16:25.. |

We "sneer" at that ammo because it's poorly made and not entirely good for the gun. Tends to result in issues with functioning as well.

Appreciate your replies. Unfortunately I bought the gun on-line, so although Toronto Airsoft may be walk-in, I live in Alberta and have to mail it back. Tough beans for me. I should have looked better for a local store and thought about service over convienence of just getting this thing here.
As far as better BB's, again I'll have to order some as none are locally available. This is really frustrating, especially when you spend so much cash. My son has shot 10's of thousands of rounds out of much "cheaper" airsoft guns that never had a glitch, and so I figured I'd treat him with a "good" gun. Clint |

What Stealth said would be the best option but since you are in Alberta that will be a bit of a problem. My suggestion would be to find a local gun doc to diagnose the problem, this thread should help http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=72809.
A King Arms Colt M4 was my first rifle and it had it's share of feeding problems too. First thing would be to try better BB's, preferably BB Basterds. The biggest issue with mine was the magazine's BB retention tab, I had to file it a bit to improve feeding but every so often the same problem would arise. A new bucking seemed to be the solution to my problem. |
