Cool We can rebuild it...Make it Faster! STRONGER! War-Locks AK-47 upgrade Project!

Whats up A.S.C! :fro:

Alright heres the deal, my TM AK47 is about 9 years old with thousands of bbs blasting throught it...and well things are starting to get fubared!

I would like to do a complete overhaul to it.

The goal is ultimatly accuracy, range and consistancy. Max 400fps..and hell a good ROF also?

Buget = $250-350..

Here is what i thought..
  • Systema Full Tune UP Kit.
The ULTIMATE FULL UPGRADE KIT - Professional Full Tuneup Kit for AK47 / AK74 Ver 3 AEG Gear Box
Includes (Top to bottom): Hexical Gear Se, Bore Up Cylinder, Silent Piston Head, Silent Cylinder Head, Cylinder Nozzle, Polycarbonate Piston, Metal Bushings, Shims, Anti-reversal Latch, Cut Off Lever, Bearing Spring Guide Rod, M150 Spring

Well i guess that sets me up to get a systema barrel, and a bucking

Systema FTK $170 US (i think)
Systema Precision BS Barrel AK AK47 AK74 - $40 (US)
systema Hop up Bucking $8 (US)
Systema air nozzel AK $11 (US)

And...now im not sure...

- Do i need a new motor? Does it have to be systema? ($100)
- Am i missing something else essential that is losing my compression value?
- Or will other left over old stock tm parts be not compatible?
- Should i go for a Pro battery? Hop up chamber? Goto a bar and forget about this?

i hope i got it all!

Thanks alot guys!

I have a very low opinion of the quality vs price paid for systema components.

Bore up kits are useless unless you want barrels exceeding 600mm in length. You don't need the extra air.

The "silent" components have been tested and debunked of doing what they claim to do.

a 150 spring will give you probably about 480-500 fps at a guess. Way too much for what you need.

You can assemble a much more affordable, proven quality setup for less money than that... hell, you could buy an entire assembled lonex v3 gearbox for less than that. Add an A1 or A2 motor and you will run circles around that systema setup any day and every day.

"Yeah, pint of Stella please"

Serious, So your saying I could get better results by mixing brands ? How would I be sure if they are compatible?

Also I have a few other springs that are weaker... I will do what I must to keep my aeg firing under 400 fps

it's a bit hard to determine what you need given the age of your gun, an entire lonex gearbox and motor will run around the same price as your systema kit... but the gear box is complete.. just drop it in and go. The lonex a1/a2 motors are proven to be power efficient high torque and speed to the tun of being able to pull 160-170 springs without much issue.

I mean it really comes down to what you want vs need.

If your gearbox shell needs replacing, just get the whole lonex box and call it a day.

If you want to reuse your existing shell, then a whole world of possibilities opens up to you.

How much rate of fire do you really want? I took a stock CA 36 and the only significant changes I made to it were install an SHS 13:1 gearset, a lonex a1 motor and a sorbo pad and it shoots 38 rounds per second. That cost was about 65-70$.

Stop right there.

I question Systema quality everyday - hell even PTW users don't even use PTWs, they use FCC. What's that say about Systema?

Systema eh? wow old school mentality, their V2 parts are crap compared to some of the other brands out there but the V3 are still solid. but there are more reliable parts out there if i still have my regular AEG I would have used a Modify complete box or Lonex

I put Guarder tune up kit with Guarder clear hopup sleeve/bucking, PDI spring ( I heard now PDI springs are crap) in my TM AK converted into RPK years ago, 06-07 I think. It was shooting 400-407FPS at the time. Ran the thing until 2009 with a lot of bb's put through it since it was used mostly as support weapon. Put it in storage for 3 years. I opened mechbox past December to inspect/re grease before new season, 2-3 piston teeth slowed severe wearing so I replaced piston, otherwise everything looked just fine... I did pop can test since I don't have a chrono, bb went right through center of the bottom part.
I've been out of the loop for the past 4 years, but if Guarder is as good as it was before I'd go with it if I ever decide to buy another tune up kit.

I agree on the Systema comments above. They're not exactly renowned for their non-PTW stuff. I'd say something much nastier, but I finally met wildcard in person and he can now identify me on the street... so.. you know.

Your budget is actually almost too much but you can do some very nice things with it...

If I had that budget for your build, I'd probably get:
  • Lonex V3 gearbox + sorbothane
  • High torque neo motor (probably a lonex but anything with STRONG magnets is fine by me)
  • MOSFET, Gate GDS-4005 or Extreme-Fire or something simple home-made
  • rewire for Deans or XT60 plus fatter wires
  • either install R-Hop, Modify's flat nub+bucking, or a PDI W-Hold

Leave the stock hopup unit, leave the stock barrel (maybe give it a good clean), shim the hell out of the gearbox, perhaps lighten the piston, and call it a day.

If you do get the Lonex V3 gearbox, make sure to AoE the piston with care if you're planning to feed this gun a lot of juice and torque.

i also vote lonex, and as well cary the opinion that systema parts for regular aeg's are really just cashin in on the systema name sake, a bunch of noobs with too much money feel that if they throw a systema ftk or a revolition gearbox in their aeg they will magically have a PTW and we all know thats a steamy load of crap.
lonex stuff seems to be of good quality and they have good options as far as buget choices and such like diferent motor choices, fully built drop in boxes or pic n choose whatever parts youd like to build yer dream box.

New set of metal bushings, imspect the tm components and replace worn items with promotheus parts. Insatll a promotheus m100 spring and a tanio koba twist bore barrel and your good to go. Leave the rest orignal.

Systema parts have indeed lowred in quality.

Every single modify parts i have ever used have been sub standart, low quality, required fitting and broke in a short time period. Better throw money in the trash bin

Guarder parts are hit or miss, specialy their gears.

Lonex do seem nice but in the two gearbox i worked on their shimming was completly off.

I'll put my vintage 13 year old tm gun againts any PTW anyday.

The first question you should be asking, is what's wrong with your current gun?

Devils advocate why not just rebuild it with stock tm parts, it's an amazing gun already just overhaul her with some fresh tm parts.
