Need some advice for M4 choice.

Hey everyone I'm not hugr on aeg rifles I tend to stick with gas I was wondering if there were any rifles that have the requirements im looking for in an aeg. If you can help it would be much appreciated, if there aren't any with what I'm looking for I'll get myself a We M4s gbbr.

- barrel ext comes off
- operational forward assist
- full metal
- quiet gearbox (not realy noisey)

Define "operational" forward assist.

I was just gonna say... lol
I don't know any forward assists that are mechanically linked to the tappet plate. But they're all spring loaded so you can push it, it just doesn't do anything

And what do you mean "barrel extension comes off"
Like you want a CQBR, or you want to transition between short and long barrels?
Or do you mean the flash hider?

Inherently all mechboxes make noise. It takes a lot of doing to make them really quiet. If you REALLY want something quiet, you might want to look into polarstar kits

The forward assist no longer needs to work for an AEG,
a fine tuned gearbox is ALWAYS quieter than ANY GBBR
If you stick to brands like King Arms, G&P, VFC, the upper, and lower receiver, buffertube, and outer barrel will be metal.

I am not sure what you mean by barrel extension. are you talking about the extra peice of barrel that WE has on there gen3 GBBRs (right infront of gasblock, detachable), if so that then thats a no, unless you get a CQBR version and put that peice on yourself.

If you are looking at a AEG, I'd recommend a King Arms. their cheap, body is a nice quality zinc/alum alloy.

If you are going for a GBBR I'd recommend you get something under the WA system, although WE parts are available in all over Canada, Its still not as reliable and fun as the WA system ( just my 2cents)

Maybe he means the forward assist on an ICS M4 with a split gearbox. On these airsoft guns, depressing the forward assist will pull the anti-reversal latch out of the way and the gears can spin backwards, releasing the spring.

Note: Only push the forward assist with the fire selector in full auto.

That foward assist on the WE's M4 is useless; purely cosmetical. On a real steel this only makes sure your bolt is locked, and making sure that the extractor is pinned / rimmed on the bottom of your shell.

Since GBBRs uses nozzles and no extractors, this function isn't operationnal.

Edit; You can always use it just for training and muscle memory; it won't break anything in your gun lol.

G&G Toptechs also have a spring release for the forward assist.

As dumb as this sounds, sometimes in games, if I wanna do a super quiet reload, I'll rack and slowly let the bolt go forward then use the forward release to load the bb :P

that's the only time ever! I've seem to be able to use it :P

Won't happen with any stock AEG. They all suck at power delivery/shimming/etc.

You may want to go for that GBBR if you're looking for the absolutes in realism and acoustics.
