What type of lube to use for GBBRs

Hey guys I've been using the old ICS silicone oil spray to lube up all my GBB pistols in the usual areas. This is what I always use. But I've ran into info on people actually using grease to lube up their GBBs. Should I switch over? If yes, which brand grease is usually recommended?

I've had a couple of GBB rifles (GHK AKM and WE M16) for a while but never actually did much maintenance in terms of lubing (I rarely shoot them since I bought them from their previous owners). Is it true that GBBRs HAVE to use actual grease for lubing? Or can I just use my ICS silicone spray on them too?

Frog Lube! I use it on all my replica. You got a paste that you can heat up a little or a gel.

Www.dstactical.com sells it in Canada

I use AI silicone for all the moving parts and ARS Sticky-G O-ring Grease for air seal parts.

I did a little searching and apparently the ICS silicone spray that I have is the higher viscosity version of the same product. The liquid looks more like a yellowish goop than the clear ones like some other lighter silicone oil products. They did say that it could still be used for o-rings and other plastics and seal parts though.

Has anyone had experience using this particular product? Since it's higher viscosity than normal, could I maybe use it to lube the bigger GBBR metal contact parts as well? I'd want to avoid having to spend extra to buy grease if I can just use what I have.

Super Lube is still my fave shizz. It's what I used when I built your 1911.

The problem with silicone oil, is that it's not actually that great of a lubricant. Its biggest problem, is its tendency to sling and creep across surfaces, which can get messy real quick, over time. It's great when running it through your mags, o-rings, and the general pneumatics of the gun, but just does a mediocre job on all hard-contact surfaces (metal:metal, plastic:metal, etc). With some guns, such as the WE GBBR platform, I've found that the AI Tornado Grenade oil is actually the best for running through the mags (which gets shot through all of the firing systems.) It's super thick, but the WE GBBR's seem to really like it and keeps it much more reliable.

Ahh thanks, Brian. Would the AI Tornado Grenade oil be preferred compared to Super Lube?

The tornado oil is what he is suggesting to run in the gas to lube the mags and the seals in the gas system (ie the oring on thr nozzle)
Still use super lube for metal on metal or metal on plastic contact/friction points like in shelled pants' how to thread i linked. The OB is the same method as the CB he shows.
Without the brass nozzle in the bolt obviously.

No. Grease is still best for metal-on-metal contact. The only thing ANY oil is good for, is keeping seals moist.

SuperLube is the real deal industrial grease that can be used on metals, plastics and rubber which is inside your gearboxes.

I love the red grease in this kit, but I am not so fond of the oil. I use AI silicone oil for oiling.
