Tips for installing RS Sig E2 grip on the TM P226 & KJW P229

Here are a few tips and mods that were required to install a RS Sig Sauer E2 grip conversion kit.
In this case, I installed a grip my KJW P229, but most of these changes were also done when I installed a grip kit on my Creation aluminium clad TM P226.





The kit includes a new decocker, main spring housing, hammer strut, grip & a tool for removing the grip (not shown). Sticker and key ring were added bonuses, not part of the kit.





Modifying the RS parts to fit.











Now to tackle fitting the grip .

All four of the moulded on grip bushings need to be reduced in diamter, (I used my dremil freehand to do them). This is needed so that they will fit inside the recesses of the grip.
I aslo had to do this to the Creation metal frame for TM. The grips shape and the clam shell tension makes it nearly impossible to widen the diameter of the grip recesses.

I hope this comes in handy for anyone else who wants to change their P226 or P229 to a real steal E2 grip.


(Optional last step, find out where your cat disappeared to when you turned on the Dremel tool )

Thanks guys!

The grip kits vary quite a bit in price, I bought the P226 kit in country for just over 90.00 shipped, the P229 kit came from the US and cost me just over 60.00 shipped.
Not exactly cheap, but then again they're still cheaper then lets say some Altamont wood grips

Plus it's always nice to add a little "real" to the "replithentic".

The REAL rosedwood grips cost about the same as the replicas....weird.
I still prefer the wood them though. Kinda unique showpiece:



I'm about to receive a Marui FMU 226 (again) to play around with. Perhaps, I'll look into this. Mind you it's not mine but....

BTW...

Isn't the RS hammer strut wayyy too long? In the pictures, it looks like the RS strut needs to be adjusted for the Marui recoil spring to properly seat. The spring interface on the RS strut look shorter....

Also, is hammer weight compatible with the KJW frame as well? Or it needs to be modded?

The real strut is indeed longer, but it goes with the much shorter main spring housing.
I didn't include the main spring housing in the mods because I didn't modify it.
(photo below showing early test fitting of parts on the P226 )

You need the longer strut and shorter main spring housing with the reduced size of the grip.

Good to hear that there's a conversion kit for the E2 grips cuz I have a Tm P226 and after handling a RS P226 with the E2 grip, my small hands love the E2. A good question, is the RS decocker necessary or can the stock TM/KJW one work as well?

You can use the stock TM/KJW decocker if you want to.
( I found the reduced sixe of the RS decocker thumb rest? makes slipping the grips on a little easier.)
-RS on top, TM on bottom .
