A question of cost/ field rentals.
Guys I was wondering how much it cost you to play are your local field.
Is it free cause you have a public field? Do you use a local paintball/Airsoft field run by a company? Or other? Right now the local paintball/Airsoft costs $20 for 4 hours of play.

I play a lot at Ultimate Airsoft (UA) and TTAC3 (haven't been there in a while though - I miss it).
TTAC3 sets up for airsoft most Friday nights, for $20/player. UA is an indoor dedicated airsoft field, that's $25 on weekdays and $35 weekend. Sgt Splatters is also an indoor paintball field, that lets airsofters play on Sunday nights, for $15. |

The field for Northern Strike Airsoft in Quesnel charges $20 per person for a gameday running from 10:00-16:00. The field fees are collected 5 times per player, constituting an annual membership fee. After that the player walks on free. We are a non-profit and all fees paid go toward field maintenance, upgrades & other bits for members.

Over in Québec, prices are skyrocketting. We started from free to 20$ at most. 10 years later it's as much as 40$ for a regular game with no investment on the organiser part.
Most of the time the high prices are on paintball field for the whole day. But still, we used to play for 20-25$ back then at the same field.

I just ran a Milsim game west of Edmonton and it was $40 for 24hrs of gaming. $30 for the field owner (paintball field) and $10 for me to spend on props, pyro etc. The field owner does reinvest quite heavily in the field and I spent every dime of my share (and more) on props etc so I feel that (and the opinions I got from the players) it was a good value dollar wise for the game.
@FOX_111: I agree that seems steep, even at 3% inflation that $20 should only amount to $27 in today's dollars. |

I can't wait to buy land up north. Maybe within the next 5-10 years. I'll try to keep it bellow the 20$ range for the day.
Money will be spent on gas to clear a parking lot and trails. And for trash collection. No bullshit.

I have a private field, games have always been free.
At Finch's field people pay $25 for a full day, and that includes lunch. |

Profit is not at dirty word,
20- 40 for a day game is certainly within reason, 40 to 60 for 24 hours is also reasonable. Double that for built up fields, and more prop intensive games I just finished up with running Op Woodsman, Cost was 60 per person.. for a event running from friday to Sunday.. it cost each person $60 bucks to play.. the event cost me $700 out of pocket to put on. But it will grow.. and come to break even and make a profit over time.. I expect a 4-5 year arc to profitability. this is the reality for game hosts and field owners.. it's not all counting cash .. and bags of money to the bank.

I don't have a problem paying up to 40$ for a full day of gaming, and if the field is nicely groomed or has lots of cool stuff, natural or constructed cover, buildings, cqb, etc, the more I'd be willing to pay for that experience.
If there's lots of deadfall and it's swampy or generally not well kept, then I'd be less willing to pay more. currently pay 20ish. I understand profit, cost of operation etc, I also understand the time required in the operator to operate his field, administrate, groom field, clean up, it's only fair that he gets some compensation for his time.

Well some people need to realize this is a business, field owner's should make some money even if to pay for the hobby, it give's them more of s drive too work and develop.
My field is $10 a person per day. Other fields here charge $5. which has caused I'm sure, some people to avoid my field as the extra fee is too much for them... But I also have more too invest back into the field. It goes both ways..
