ARES microswitch Fix
I have an Ares m4 cqc and I fried the stupid switch. Is it possible to modify the system and install a standard trigger contact? Has anyone done this?
Ares CS has been mostly Useless in helping me with a replacement microswitch. I'm new and have since learned of mosfets, and electrical upgrading. Are there any gun Wizards in the Toronto area? I might need some help! |

simple answer, No, its simply not possible to put regular trigger contacts in, or mosfet the gun. Microswitches are something thats standardized on the market, they are used in many other places, as well.

Using a V7-1S17D8-022 switch and a MOSFET. These switches handle small current (use with a MOSFET, do not use directly to control the main current), and have no bouncing. Work nicely on my A&K Mk43 and Ares G36C. http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=159389 This may help, too. I have a few spare V7-1S17D8-022 switches, PM me if you want one. Bought 5 to average the shipping cost but only used 2 of them.

The best way to fix every (numerous) issue on the ARES platforms, is to buy a gun that isn't an ARES lol

I've been reading that a Lot! I love the external but the guts aren't that good. Needs to be rebuilt out of the box, which Obviously is a Huge negative! LoL

When I had an Ares gun using the microswitches, I made sure to stock at least 5 of them every season. They fry just after 5000 shots. If you still want to keep your Ares externals, I sugguest you just order an Ares M4e gearbox and replace your current one. Something like $100 shipped from Ares.

I've read about the m4e, do you have any experience with it? |

These switches appear to be the same as the micro switches used in arcade machine buttons and joysticks (the switch in my ca m249 is)
Replacements should be available at the playdium store at Dixon and martingrove rd in Toronto For about a buck a piece I think they are rated for 12v 10-15A This is has no lever but they should have ones with a lever http://www.theplaydiumstore.com/Joystick_Micro_Switch_p/95-0733-01.htm |

Active Surplus, Downtown Toronto, has the CA M249 microswitches for about 00.75 a piece. Just FYI.
When I ran a 249, we kept 5 spare switches and a screwdriver in the pistol grip, so we could field repair it in about 10 minutes (while being shot at). |

As for the M4e ya I own two M4e gearboxes. One is just a standard standard reliability build and the other is running a low stress DSG build. The entire firing control unit on the M4e is excellent, but the actual Mosfet that is used on it is absolute crap. If you try to use a spring stronger than m120, the MOSFET will pop. Also this is not an active breaking MOSFET. Opening and closing of the gearbox is one of the easiest I have seen up to date. All of the wires is on the outside of the gearbox. Still got your quickchange spring. Stock internals are not bad. Will usually last about 2 seasons of hardcore gaming, till the gears turn to mush. |

wonders of a g&p 249, uses a standard v2 trigger system lol
also you gun is using anywhere from 9-13v and 12-24A most microswitches cant handle stock guns. if you take one apart you'll understand why. |

Problem Corrected! Picked up some micro switches from Active Surplus in Toronto.
They Must be used with a mosfet as they're rated for 11amps |

Depends on your gun build and your battery, you maybe able to use those 11A ones directly, without MOSFET. They will be overloaded, and they will burn eventually, but hopefully not too much faster than the stock one. It is not like overloading a switch rated for 0.1 amp with the currently inside an AEG circuit…
