JG HK416 technical details?
Hi guys, i haven't been very active but i've been reading!! Hehe I have looked around about my JG hk416, but i still need clarifications!!
I got it used, but with upgraded gears, ball bearings. Since it's winter now, it's time to maintain everything and i've found out that the piston teeths are wearing out. And the oring at the piston head is getting old! So i'd like to replace my piston... I have found many different models of pistons, but none for hk416s... Correct me if i'm wrong, i should order a piston for a M4 ?? Do you have any suggestions about upgrades in that area? (piston/cylinder/spring combination) I also want to replace my hopup and inner barrel (longer) ... Where do i start to measure ? from the total of the tube or where it starts at the end of the hop up unit? (i hope thats clear lol) I want my barrel to be longer inside my silencer, any recommendations about this? It's currently at a 380 +/- 20fps... id like to keep it that way but i want it to be more constant, accurate and have a bit more range! And as you all know, there are many stores out there, which one do YOU prefer and why?? Thanks in advance ! Im looking forward to reading your answers! |

It's a version 2 mechbox so pretty much any piston will fit. My go-to piston is the SHS 14 tooth piston. If you want to change your piston head, Lonex ones are very good.
Is there anything wrong with the hop up unit itself, or did you mean you want to replace the bucking? Do you have a CQB or carbine length barrel in it?

I'd say that Spike's pretty much on the ball. SHS full-rack pistons are really sturdy, and Lonex is also an affordable high-quality internals manufacturer.
If the O-ring is worn out, yhere may be a loss of compression which is causing the large FPS variations. You may notice a slight FPS increase with a new piston, as well as significantly smaller variation. For example, my LCT AK only varies by ±5 FPS on the chrono. And yes, all AR platforms use a V2 gearbox so you should be fine. Cheers and good luck! Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk |

+/- 20fps?? You have air leaks brah. Git on that sheeeit.
I owned a JG 416 in the past - however mine was a two piece hop up unit, old school. Finding a replacement for it is impossible. Figure out what you have. Mine was utter shit and warped because it was plastic and ultimately lead to me selling off the AEG as a result. Spike is right - I only use Lonex POM piston heads myself (although the last two i've received came with chunks out of them..wtf..they weren't in spots that affected the o-ring seal at all so I used them anyways) SHS 14t is the go to (I believe its actually labelled as 15t but when you shave the second tooth down for AOE correct its 14) - I also don't mind the 7t either. shs has a 14t and a 15t. the 14 has at times been manufactured defectively with the spacing between the pickup tooth (1st) and the 3rd tooth improperly distanced so the sector will jam in it.
Best to start with a 15 and dremel the 2nd tooth out yourself.

Also don't forget to check that your piston slides freely along the piston rails.
SCs Top Tips - Piston Check - YouTube After a myriad of problems with the SHS 14T, I've lost faith in them. New batches might be OK though, but why waste your time? |

Alright guys, Ive done a bit more research, got a few question answered!
I figured ill need a 400-420mm innerbarrel to go in my suppressor. I have a picture posted below, Ive got a question. The original barrel is 285mm, ive got modify gears, 54t-20t torque 21.6... I have a 15t piston in it (that need to be replaced) Do i need to bore up my cylinder or i can just leave it that way considering my barrel modification? |

Longer barrel have very little to do with accuracy. You need better barrel, not longer barrel.
If your hop-up is really not working (how did you find it out? what are the symptoms? ) that should be taken care of, or you will have very bad range. There are many things you can try before replacing the hop-up chamber, as most hop-up problems are due to wrong installation, or the bucking/rubber, rather than the hop-up chamber. Replacing the hop-up chamber could lead to new problems in some cases and should only be done when necessary. All of us learn from trials and errors, but I think you need a little bit more of reading and research before trying to upgrade your gun.
