Need help with my new aeg?

Hi guys, I'm a total noob so my airsoft diagnosing skills suck.

I just bought my first aeg, a vfc hk 417, and for some reason it won't fire bbs on semi unless I slam the magazine upward with my left hand. After that, it'll fire once, and then nothing again, unless I tug upward on the mag again.

On full auto, it works way better and I can see the bbs raining out of the muzzle.

The company I bought it from suggested that I try and adjust the hop up, which I already did, but it's still the same.

Any help or advice is truly appreciated.

Thanks

Do the BBs freely feed from the mag if you move the stopper (point it back in the bag first)?

Could be bad BBs, what brand?

My 417 loves it some Green Devils.

Try loading and unloading the mag full a couple times, and see if that helps. If not try different BBs, If not try oiling the mag with silicone oil.

It may very well be a mag problem. Try shimming the mag (or magwell) with some painters tape or something. I know some guns are finnicky with mags and I had to modify an entire box of mags that I got (because I guess the moulds weren't quite right and things didn't line up).

Also try firing the gun upside down and see if it feeds.

Dust: Yes, I believe that the bbs do feed out of the a when I move the switch looking tab on top of the mag.

I also hope it's not the bbs because I thought I bought decent ones. I believe they are called TDS .25 -Color white.

Volteco: Unfortunately, I do not have another mag., so I can't:-(

I think I'm gonna call the store tomorrow and tell em that it might be the mag.

I also just found out that if I flip the gun totally upside down, I'm able to fire in semi consistently???? Wth? I might have to shoot upside down on semi-auto:-?

They come with a mid-cap. If it feeds upside down then it sounds like the mag is not feeding well. Are the BBs highly polished? Also, don't load the mag to the max.

There is nothing to turn under the mag..

Sometimes It doesn't do it, ok , more like rarely.

If it is the mag, do you guys think the mag is not going in all the way, or its going in too far? How do I tell?

Do you have access to another brand of BBs to try? It sounds like the mag does not want to reliably push the BBs upward, which is either a weak spring (unlikely on a new mag) or the BBs are binding in the channel (could be against each other).

Some people recommend a spritz of silicone spray into the BB channel to make sure the BBs feed smooth, but then you need to blow a mag or two of BBs out to clear the oil. Makes a mess in my opinion. I just use highly polished BBs (BBBastard, Green Devil).

Thanks for the help guys. I think it's getting better.

I'll try to buy different bbs this weekend and maybe a speed loader.

Again, load and unload the mag a few times. It is a common procedure you should o to every new mag.
