Fitting a TM Frame on a KJW P226
I have a question for you guys. I recently purchased a cansoft version of the KJW P226. I wanted the Marui but it was just too expensive so I settled on KJW thinking it would be TM compatible and I could just swap out whatever was necessary.
Now heres the problem, according to the forums, the KJW "is" TM compatible but not 100%. What I intend to do is to purchase the OEM plastic frame from Tokyo Marui and install it on my KJW, replacing the clear cansoft version. The compatibility thread for the KJW P226 didn't mention swapping the frame so I'd like to know from you guys if you've done or seen this before. Is there fitment issues and if so did they only require small modification? Marui Frame KJW P226 |

I might just paint that clear frame.
Question, are you 18"+? There are always some nice 226s for sale in the restricted area here. Observation. If you decide to go the metal route it will be expensive and complex.

The Marui frame is the original oem, made of abs plastic. the "stainless" marked on the slide is just for show. The set is only 15$ from ehobby. If the TM plastic frame fits without issue then I will consider a metal frame but for now that's not what I'm after.
Yes I am 20, I just haven't got av'd yet. |

Yeah, the frame will be seized at the border. Don't order it from outside Canada.

Yep, get AV'd on here and you'll be plugged into the network.
Sounds like a trip to Kelowna is in the cards.

I figured the frame being made of ABS plastic would not be an issue at the border since it clearly can't be used on a real firearm. Though, CBSA seems to have a grudge against anything Marui so maybe I'm wrong. I'm in Edmonton now so getting AV'd shouldn't be a problem. Are frames for a P226 common in the AV section?
I'd still like to know if anyone has tried fitting a TM or guarder frame on a KJW. I'm already regretting purchasing my KJW because I'm worried nothing will fit. |

Plastic or not they don't care. Frame = no go.
You'll see the old TM frames turn up pretty cheap from folks who've upgraded to metal kits. Your best bet is to run that KJW as is and take your time setting up a TM pistol. The KJW can stay as a backup and things like a holster or mags and light will swap to the other pistol.

I have installed TM frame on KJW p226. As far as I remember, I just had to file down the grip at the bottom so magazine goes in all the way and everything works perfectly.

The parts are 90% the same, the only difference I saw was in rear chassis assembly and take down lever, I think.

Once I get AV'd I'll check out some replacement frames. I don't want a letter from CBSA. Till then I've got a sick lookin paint job in mind |
