G&P, ICS, KWA so many choices.

Hey, I am newish to buying airsoft guns, and am looking at getting an M4 platform and am having trouble on figuring it out and discerning what brand would be the best choice for a field gun, not looking for a DMR just a regular old assault rifle.I am looking for some peoples input on what brands to watch out for and what people would recommend!

I am leaning towards a G&P, but am not sure if its the best choice for me. My budget is about 400-500 dollars but wouldn't mind going cheaper

edit: I have good Eye protection ( JT Proflexes and Dye I4's), boots, a lipo charger and a regualr Nimh charger for standard connections, I also have a molle vest and some other assorted kit, I have four guns I got through multiple trades of paintball gear, but none of them seem worth upgrading other then the G&G Combat machine

In my opinion ICS and G&P have great internals. ICS moters are absolutely beastly. G&ps have great all round internals that can withstand 11.1v lipos straight out of the box but as a newbie I wouldnt recomend going for 11.1 lipos just yet. With that budget youre willing to spend you can get an awesome gun that will shoot fine and wont have any problems.

Get age verified and start small, like get a king arms m4. It's great noob friendly gun, run it stock and would last quite a while

the ka m4 is probably the most economical starter m4.. it's quite basic though with no rail system only the rail under the carry handle. If you know exactly what rail system you want, you may find it in the g&p or vfc lineup without having to rip apart the externals of a brand new gun.

Like all out of the box airsoft, there's a chance of things failing, mainly the piston. Beyond that the cutoff lever on the KA is a pretty quick wearing part. I've changed multiple levers on guns within a year of purchase for people. It's a cheap part though so that's not much concern.

i have 2 ICS M4s, both configured very differently from stock. They aren't RS parts compatible, or of exacting RS dimensions. It does take some creative modifying and/or parts knowledge to make changes happen. If you are a tinkerer with patience, you might even enjoy the process.

Otherwise, get a G&P for the externals, but be prepared to go into the version 2 gearbox and swap out weak components that are likely to fail with routine use.

That said, the ICS split design gearbox does simplify spring changes

KWA if you want to run a gun stock and out preform pretty much anything else stock. Its 11.1 v lipo ready (comes with a certificate) as it comes stock with 9mm heat treated gears and bearings. Thing will take a shit kicking without you having to open it up to upgrade or do repairs for a long time. I have had G&Ps, ICS, G&Gs and my KWA sr10 outperforms all of them It has also been my most reliable gun ive ever had. It has still never been opened up to be repaired.

Airsoft Wisdom You get what you pay for in airsoft.

KWA= reliable performance - stock out of the box
