Normally it's screwed in.

I used a flathead screw driver on the notch of the retaining ring and VERY CAREFULLY unscrewed it. Better alternative is to find a small piece of plastic (maybe cut a plastic fork) or metal that is slightly smaller in diameter than the sight but is able to sit on two notches that are on opposing sides. That should give you enough leveage to unscrew the retaining ring.

Maybe try a paperclip or sewing needle that can sit on both notches to get leverage.

Update: I just tested a paperclip and it works very well. Good luck

Isn't it like the good old stuff with which the last is made of that cannot be found because everything is cheap and plastic-y nowadays? Just had to ask :P
