Sighting in Distance
I just got my ICS M4A1, I just charging the battery before takeing it to my "Range" to Sight it in. What is a good distance to sight the weapon in with Iron Sights?
Thanks, LRRP |

Getting to know your AEG
I just got my M4 from a friend...
It shoots 285 and I have the iron sights pretty zero'd at about 85 feet. The BB experiences serious drop after that point. First off get your hopup figured out. Play with it and get it shooting as stright as possible. Then figure out where the loft on the BB ends, that "sweet spot" right before the BB starts drop, and set it for that. If you do an upgrade, you will need to zero it again.

Or if you are like some people, like me, who always turn hopup off after use @ a game, you gotta do it every time you head out! its a pain.. but I've read that its better to store the guns in hop off.

Never heard that at all! For shipping or storing untouched for a few months, yes, but for between games if you play regularly, nah, no point.
Generally I keep my hop up where it is, if I need to clean the barrel I go full off, then put it back to roughly where it was before, and sight my MP5 with RDS (and iron sight back up, look through them and the red dot falls right on the tip of the front post) in my basement at 30ft, and set it so 95% of all the BBs I shoot fall inside the 2" circle targets I use. Then on the field, I'll take a couple long range shots to see if my BBs fall, are ok, or rise, then tweak the hop up accordingly. 30ft setting gets my BBs out to about 120ft+, after that I just compensate. |
