Is My FPS Low?
I've been upgrading a 1911 GBBP and with all upgrades in im averaging 290-300FPS
I am using Propane Upgrades DYNA Piston Head Madbull Bucking Madbull 6.03 TB Inner Barrel (standard length) Is this an average FPS with this many compression upgrades? seems low to me.. |

Well it would help if you listed what gun you have...
And what FPS you were getting previous to the upgrades. |

Im kinda wondering what weight bb your using. I know a 6.03 in my g17 was average 300 fps with .2 the piston hea might increase fps but not by much. The bucking won't increase fps at all..... seams about right.... if you want more (pistol is more a cqb/last resort weapon), tight bore, high flow valves and upgrade the nozzle. ..

its a KJW 1911 FULL Metal Co2 (but im running gas)
the upgrades affect the FPS.. i've got it up to 300 with all the upgrades in... Teflon taped the bucking even. i guess i just figured that after all of that i'd get higher than 300... with the Co2 it was pushing 350+ Stock i am pretty sure it was < 280FPS High flow valve is my next choice but i think i'll settle for a solid consistent 300FPS and be able to get a full mag on one fill... high flow valves are gas pigs.. |

How much sand CAN you fit in your vagina!?

Without changing the flow or the gas you won't get a large increase in FPS. Even a tight-bore will only add a small amount. Most pistols on propane shoot around the 300 FPS mark.

The only way you'll push more fps than the 300 mark with a pistol is really one of those pdi 6.01 raven barrels with the high flow valves and extra strength valve knockers. I'm sure the more experienced members on here can add more but you're not shooting low.

Is My FPS Low?
In the other hand, it's pretty much a moot point
You don't need a pistol to be particularly powerful, as you're most likely to use that in close quarters or at close range anyways What you need is consistency and precision, regardless of fps, and you'll achieve that with mostly just a good hop up unit and rubber In case you're worried about fps because you want range, head this: I am working on a TM HiCapa that shoot in that range approximately (around 1joules using .25 or .28, didn't have .2 on hand for direct comparison), and hopup actually will over hop .28 at its minimum. When I fed it .4g (yep that's right, in a pistol :P), I was shooting around 175 to 200 feets easy. Still haven't checked for accuracy yet, but at least I know the range is there even at "low" fps! :P |
