GATE product support, two thumbs up!

If anyone is wondering about the warranty/customer service support from, GATE, it is EXCELLENT. I had an issue with a PicoSSR2 (one of the chips came off) and contacted them around January 5th using their form, including model, serial number, problem, pics, etc. I was expecting a bit more hassle or fight but on January 16th, I got an unexpected email saying a new mosfet was on it's way, and I just received it today (January 27th, keep in mind it's coming from Poland).

Two thumbs up to GATE.

did the chip unsolder itself off the board? I had a unit go like that.

Yeah I think so. During install.

Actually I found out they sent me a PicoSSR3 to replace my PicoSSR2. Likely because they don't make the SSR2 anymore but it's nice.

this one self destructed during use.... guessing the gun was too demanding for the little fet and it just cooked itself off.

I've never been a fan of Gate products, but its good to hear at least their support is great.

I appreciate what they're doing with those pico fets, but I agree with lurkingknight, they don't take a lot of abuse.

They're supposed to b able to take 12.8v no problem.
AirsoftStore says
"It has been tested to reliably power up to 420fps, sub-25rps builds. Anything else and you may exceed the operating parameters of the FET. We've run this on a 460fps 30rps AEG before reliably for over 13000 rounds so far. Your mileage may vary and will depend entirely on electrical loads, RF noise and voltage spikes unique to each system/setup."

That's John's gun - your mileage may vary. I mean - what it also doesn't say is that since then he went up to 530fps with the same FET setup.
I've said it a few times and I'll reiterate - it's not the voltage that's killing the FETs - it's the inductance.
I'm not sure if you're aware, but what kills these things is usually inductance causing voltage spikes. MOSFETS are sensitive to that kind of stuff. Exceed it's absolute max Vds by 1% and it's dead. Brushed motors are super inductive.

I do believe it was 390fps between 28-34rps, I can't quite remember. drawing 18-20 amps constant. Lonex a2 on lonex 19:1s, 11.1 20C 1400mah or around that. Not sure what happened, it happened 3 or 4 events after I built it for the client. It was an ssr2.

gate does have an awesome warranty and airsoftstore also has great support and it was replaced.

Given those results though I probably wouldn't put a ssr3 into an upgraded gun like that, and go straight to an asr, or other fets if I can get my hands on them that are based around a 3034.
