Tried to modify Fn herstal a5m spr( vsr-10 mostly compatable) and is now messed up even when i revert to original internals
:banghead: Okay so i bought this gun about a month back and it costed around $120 canadian from forest city sirplus and it was all good but it shot very low fps like lower than the rental ar guns at the local airsoft field, it shot around 350-360 with .25g. i had talked with others who had been playing for years and had hundreds in upgrading their guns and they said to take the air restrictor out, so i did and when i later went to buy a m145 spring and after installing the first few shots were fine then it started firing when i pushed the bolt in, and would sometimes you could not push the bolt in without pushing the end barrel against the ground to get leverage :banghead: so i took it apart and the piston had been tore apart from the spring or something like that, im very new to airsoft ( started when i bought this gun) and basically some times it will fire and sometimes it wont and most of the time it will fire as soon as i push in the bolt to put the bolt handle down in its resting place. i think its the mechanism that holds the spring back is failing. i think i will upgrade it and the piston, is there anything you would recomend i try before i put more money in it and if not what parts should i buy?

1) 360 on .25s is 400fps on .20s, so i dont know what fps you're looking for but thats near the max limit for most fields
2) you wrecked a $120 gun, its not really a big deal 3) the stronger spring broke the sears that hold the piston back. Theyre generally not meant to handle even the stock springs for very long |

If It uses VSR10 internals and it's slam firing (pull bolt back try to push forward and it flies forward with the spring tension) you need 3 parts (two items) a steel sear set (first and seccond sear) and a piston. The contact point between the seccond sear and piston wears quickly on this type of trigger setup at anything above 300fps, even with steel sears and piston they wear, I actually broke mine last weekend so I need a new sear set (this is a 500fps setup with 6 or 7 seasons of use)
I think I stated this before but here goes again. Start with again good base. replace the sears, piston, spring guide, hop unit and inner barrel. That is an entry leven build. you should also replace the cylinder, cylinder head. then you should assemble it all. Shim stuff to make stuff line up perfect, such as hop to receiver inner to outer outer and receiver to stock etc... you can repair what you have and continue to build on it but in the end you'll find the best way IMHO is to start with a good base then build from there, why? Cause a TM with a set of sears and piston will out shoot an upgraded to the tits clone any day. Literally my tm with the stock 300fps spring out shot my 500 fps built on a well/tsd/what ever re branded clone. Once I put the 500 fps spring in it it was night and day till the sear went so I dropped all my parts in. In closing when you originally asked about bolt actions those if us who (firstly are patient enough to answer questions that have been answered hundreds of times on this forum alone) and with the knowledge to advise you took the time to advise you to the best of our knowledge the best course of action to avoid throwing answer way money, like many of us have in the past. You chose to not listen. If you go back a read what was said to you you will see that we have advised you on what to buy, wht to upgrade and in most cases why. well now you know why sears and a piston were the first things on the list. Right next to a hop rubber and inner barrel, followed closely by a hop unit and barrel spacers. or you could just grab a full zero trigger and piston set instead of sears and piston. Also keep in mind laylax and pdi yes! (First fire makes good sears) Off brand clone shit no!

This is exactly what we told you would happen in the other thread (did you even read any of the replies?)
The best advice you can have right now is just write off the $120 and stop dumping money into this piece of shit. There's videos on YouTube of a guy who upgraded one as much as he could (investing more in upgrades than the actual price of the gun) and the end result was a spring action rifle that was barely shooting par with a stock, good quality AEG. Seriously, just walk away and start over with a good platform. Also, as previously pointed out, I don't know how much you want to upgrade this gun but it sounds like you're making something that won't be allowed on most fields. So unless you can come back and tell me "Yes, I know for certain that the people I play with will allow this velocity/power level" you'd better do your homework before going for such an upgrade.

To sum it up, that was your first 120$ Airsoft learning experience (mistake). Some people learn the first time and start listening when people tell them a gun is a piece of crap and not to buy it. Some people repeat that mistake over and over. Others wisen up and stop buying crap guns. What you choose to learn from this mistake is up to you. We'll still be here to answer your questions next time, so don't hesitate to ask.
