Mixing and matching different brands' internal
I am planning to swap all the internals of my G&P M4 with Guarder internals but for the gears and piston I want to use parts from Prometheus. I am wondering if I would run into any problem with parts not matching properly. Reason for using the Prometheus gears and piston is that I am using a PDI 170% spring (currently @ ~400 FPS) and from what I read it would be safer to use torque up gear rather than original gear.
Currently my G&P M4 has the following aftermarket parts: Systema Hop-Up Systema Air-Seal Nozzle TM EG1000 Motor Prometheus 6.03mm Barrel Guarder Hop-Up Bucking Systema Switch Assembly Systema Selector Plate Full Systema internals is another option I am considering but from some reviews I read they seem to break easily. Is this true? Thx for the help. |

your tappet and selector are prometheus (if they are stock) and your gears are reinforced g&p. unless they are worn i would just leave them alone. they are pretty tough and will last with only a pdi 170 spring. i would keep the stock spring guide as it's the best i've seen and fits the mechbox perfectly. the piston is a g&p polycarb that looks suspiciously like the ca one. i would change the head set though to a systema silent head set, as the stock one will wear down on the o-ring and fail, but that will be after many thousands of rounds. you must have spent a pile on parts thus far considering the initial cost of the gun too. the stock cylinder is prometheus and the main cause of piston head wear is from the cylinder finish being rough on the inside. a polished cylinder would be better, but with a silent head set and good lubrication you should be good for a long time.
