lose gearbox?

I have been working on my first gearbox. The problem is that it feels too lose, I tried to shim it but it is not even remotely enough. I put over 3mm worth of shim and it is still lose. any possible fixes? or a new shell is my way to go?

possibly warped gearbox, most likely you're doing it wrong. Find someone who knows how to work on internals to teach you.

I have added the pictures. They are essentially sitting way too low.

take everything out except for one gear, then try and close it. that definitely looks really wrong. Is it a new gearbox or gears? It should be a standard size gearbox. it looks like it is not closing far enough.

That is the thing. It is fully closed. There is no gap in the shell.

The bushings I sold you were I believe 6mm SHS bushings (can't remember the orange ones). I do not know if the bushings are the right size for that gearbox. Each gearbox has different sizes because of reasons.

Note: no I was not the one who sold him the gearbox.

If those are the APS gears that I also sold to you, they are properly sized 18:1 standard ratio gears. I have tested them in my V3 JG gearbox so I know for certain that these are not proprietary gear sizes. The only other thing that needs to be ruled out is the gearbox size that should be the same as any other TM clone.

So above all the things mentioned, see if the bushings on the down-facing side of the gearbox are sitting flush and not protruding outwards which can result in the above pictures.

I think the lancers need 7mm bushings, that must be the problem. an airsoft bb is 6mm. put one in the bushing hole, if there is space around it, its bigger than 6mm.

I have tried the same set of gears on a different gearbox and they close with a lot less gap.

I only have 6mm and 8mm. the 8mm is too big. Assuming the gearbox is really standard, this makes the most sense.

Doesn't matter if they're the right size bushings...the difference in height to the gearbox is the huge issue here and waaaaaay off for some reason.

you were right, I was using the wrong size bushing. I bough some 7mm instead of 6mm and it is sitting properly now
