VFC AEG not firing.

Had a very strange thing happen to me when I took my VFC M4 out tonight. I accidentally touched the reverse contacts and the gun clicked and locked up, unable to fire. I reset the anti-reversal latch which was locked up, but the gun is still unresponsive. It is a Deans conversion and when I opened up the stock tube, I noticed that the tech who performed the conversion removed the fuse capsule. It does have a MOSFET built in. A quick check with a multimeter shows voltage coming from the battery, but not coming off the motor leads. Is it possible I have burned out the MOSFET or the motor? Can anyone recommend a competent AEG gunsmith who will not cost me a fortune?

for motor test, just use a V9 battery. if you have the gearbox open already just use the multimeter to test the mosfet, it may be helpful to bypass it for testing purposes only

After some testing of the motor, I think you're probably right. Very frustrating that it's so fragile, a momentary touch will fry it.

Because they're so magnetic and everything sticks to them sometimes a little guy ( Small Screw) sneaks his way inside the motor. I took the motor apart and got the screw out and it worked perfectly after that.


Check that first

Unless a screw managed to fall in at the exact moment he reversed the polarity on his mosfet, I really doubt thats the issue.

Mosfets are designed for single polarity, when you reverse polarity on them it basically makes a dead short with the battery, frying it instantly.

No but it suggest that he had the grip open and something could have gotten in

nevermind he touched the contacts on the battery. I have never seen this happen
