Making a Claim with CP for damaged goods
Hey everyone,
I have come into a situation where CP has screwed up. I shipped out a M203 to an ASC member, and upon arrival the box had clearly been dropped at least once, and the collar ring on the 203 was cracked. Has anyone here made a claim with CP for damaged goods? My intent is to call monday afternoon, however I'd like to know what I should expect in terms of them trying to block me, or put me on hold indefinitly. Mike

Prepare to spend around 10min working through various hold loops. To reduce the amount of back and forth have the following details available:
-tracking number (duh) -receiving post office number (on your receipt and also in the ink stamp on the box) -shipping and receiving dates -value of item shipped and insured value It would also help to have a picture of the evidently damaged box. Unfortunately you will have to describe the contents of the package which will raise some eyebrows and the description of the damage to the item. Try to describe things carefully or they may jump to prohibited device conclusions. I.e. model of a launcher rather than a replica of a grenade launcher. CP will reimburse as much as the item value that you admit to. Not as much as the insurance limit as optimistic shippers would assume.

I did it for a broken M9 metal slide.
They payed without too many questions. It's the sender job to call and claim the damages.

How long did it take for CP to get you the funds? Also, when you say "model of a launcher", how would might that effect CPs payout? For example a new SP launcher is $350, given that the way it was damaged its not going to be able to be stablally mounted to an AEG anymore, wouldn't it raise eyebrows at CP asking for a somewhat large payout for a "model"? If it helps at all, only the launcher reciver was damaged, nothing else in the package was. As such the total package was insured for $500.

When asked what the actual value is.. I'd say $450. Screw em' they busted it, they can pay.

I would go for actual replacement cost plus shipping. Going higher does two things, raises our postal rates (what you think CP is going to pay out of their pocket?) and puts you at risk of fraud. The risk may be minimal but it's not worth it over such a paltry sum.

No worries Lisa, it's explicitely stated (as I am right now attempting to file my own claim) that they pay max insured value or replacement value (whichever is lesser), and it's pretty hard to fake. I've yet to hear of anyone successfully ripping off CP via the insurance route.

The CP process for broken packages is really slow... Awhile ago(Nov I think) I shipped out a ANPEQ2 battery box, CP smashed it an they've been "investigating" it for a few months now...

Claim field as of 1:30 PM EST. And now the rollercoaster ride begins... I'll keep you all posted.
PS - It was actually $3.00 in insurance I placed on the '203, not $1.50.
