I'm curious as to which airsoft revolvers are actually durable enough to use for IPSC. A lot of plastic out there that I don't think can take the wear & tear. A starter's guide would probably be good if anybody has the time to put one together.

None of any Airsoft would last long for gaming or practical shooting, even revolver, basic maintenance and service are needed.

All the Japanese revolver models are plastic, they wear quick and last for hundreds shots and having troubles mostly, no good for gaming at all, i had them for collections only, but the Taiwan made full metal models, alot better.

Let?s say my ASG 715, I have 5 pcs for my collection, but the one i use for actionair practical shooting, been 5-6 years and put through more than 5000 rds, it?s still running good(you have to keep it in good maintained), but moon clip compatible models is only ASG 715 by manufacturer, Rhino one is after market and Umarex M29 is my custom made, Umarex R8 you can get moon clip and custom make it too, so pick whatever available in the market you should be good for some double action shell reloading fun!

PS, if you want to experience them, you may come visit us at Practical Shooter Corner in Markham, I’m there in most of the Friday evening.

Customized hand grip to fit for my personal preference, and DIY cylinder release for umarex M29 is added right beside the hammer, also keeping the original one, this release is even better than the extended one, particularly good for shooter like me with a smaller palm or shorter thumb, love it!

Top is DIY cylinder release with original, bottom is 3D print extended releases

GR (middle): universal
Ghost (right): light modified to fit ASG715 and Umarex M29/629

This one fits WG revolver

My very first DIY moon clip for WG revolver 10 years ago

WG revolver with DIY moon clips and leather holster , the moon clip was using gasket maker to glue together, but sooner someone copied this idea and 3D print them. And this moon clip design, the revolver needs no modified, just drops in and shoots.

My second ASG715 revolver set up within these couple years

This is ASG715 full metal revolver, pretty strong build and nice finishing, only the cylinder release is not like the real one, design on the right side in front of cylinder, yiu have to use the left hand pulling it down to release cylinder.

This model has CL Projects in Taiwan supporting upgraded parts for competition set up.

Dump pouch for collecting moon clips to avoid damaged when drop on floor, this customize moon clips are more durable, even drop on floor would not too easy to damage them, may just spme shell falls apart only.

Red dot sight install (not for IPSC Revolver division)
Raise front sight for easy locate red dot
3D print hand grip base
Tuned smooth for trigger pull and cylinder rotation, also modified cylinder for metal moon clip compatible

Modified original plastic moon clip with TK Custom Rhino metal moon clip for stronger support and more durable

My third Umarex M29 revolver set up

This is Umarex M29 8 inches model, I would rather to have 5 inches for easier handling. This model is exactly like the real one, cylinder is larger than ASG715, release is behind cylinder and under the hammer on left .

This one also tuned for smoother trigger pull and reload, hand grip is customized for personal palm size

This .45 ACP moon clip is not good for airsoft shells, as the shells are too heavy, if drop on the floor could cause damaged or deformed, then will have problems for reloading, needs to be repaired and re-do it, so collect by dump pouch is necessary!

Double Alpha belt and holster system, DIY moon clip pouches

Mill the shells to install .45 ACP moon clips, DIY add extra cylinder release beside hammer for easier release

Mill the cylinder for moon clip compatible

Add Dead Ranger rear sight for easy aiming

I?m so glad that this revolver set up is about to be finalized, after taking quite a long time for experimenting!

Tuned smooth internals and replaced some springs.
Custom hand grip for better griping and cylinder releases for a quick thumb push.
Add rear ring sights and front fibre sight for easier aiming.
Modified moon clips more durable and flexible that taking impact when drop on ground, not easy yo be off shape and got jam.
Shells are tuned for accuracy and light modified for smoother rotation when in cylinder.
Moon clip holders angle adjust for my personal preference.
Dump pouch set on side under revolver rather than in front to collect shells after used.

Now it?s time getting back to basic and keep practicing?..

If anyone interested to join Actionair Revolver Division, pls contact me, looking forward to hear from you soon!
