Plastic Mags for G36/CA36 - too fragile [any advice?]
I'm having CA36, it works fine, but one thing and that's the plastic mags. Recently one of my mags fell on the ground and broke. The plastic is too fragile for heavier use. I have to be especially curious when having mags in sums in front, cause I may hit the ground suddenly with them on me.
I have browsed this forums and also shops, but no one cares about their fragility and secondly all vendors have plastic ones only. Have any of you modified these plastic mags, so they can't break easily? Possibly anyone have created/put together/constructed metal mag for G36? Thanks for any advice and help. |

I dont know I just cant Figure out how yours broke any way if I were you i would just get the Mag series just make sure you don't fill them all the way only to like 80-95 rds max.

metal magazine
Did anybody ever resolve this? I have the KWA G36, and the tabs broke on first use. Not a big deal, but I did note that the actual mag casing cracked around the tab base....Given time and more use, the magazine itself may crack to the point where it is not usable. Does anyone make a metal replacement for the G36?

Anyway if you wanted you could get a magwell converter and use metal m4 mags.

If thew mag cracked around the base of the tab it may be cause the tab got pressured to one side. If you don't care to keep the tabs you might get new mags and cut the tabs off and sand the nubs to a soft edge or even fully flat which would not give anything a chance to pressure the tab section.

G36 magazines are plastic. I don't think metal ones even exist...if you want metal, you'll have to get a converter and use STANAG mags.

I sanded all the tabs off mine, and sanded the edge down too to barely anything left, they fit perfect in my m4 pouches now. Yes plastic, I played in summer and winter nary and issue. Now watch I will break 10 mags next outing.

Thanks for the tips guys! I guess I will buy a couple of extra mags, sand off the tabs, and hopefully they will stand up to abuse better. Its not that I am having any problems, it is just surprizing how easily they cracked because of those silly tabs. I think the tabs are a good concept, but in practise they simply are not of any use.

The King Arms 50 round mags are excellent. I've broken tabs off all of my other brands -have yet to break a KA mag.
Next game I'll break 10 of Deep's to test the theory

I have to try a KA mag and see what happens.... I wonder if it is because the 50 round mag has thicker walls or something? To be fair, I have only used hi-cap mags, so I can't comment on the construction of a 50 round mag. After I get a KA mag, maybe I should do a few "drop tests" and publish the results

You can't get a metal 36 mag. I'd recommend buying lots of mags or switching to an M4 mag.
