Which one would you pick: CA M15A4 CQB or G&P CQB-R

Well I have been researching these guns for a while. I have found quite a bit of info on the CA gun and have heard great things about it. From all the reviews and comments about it, it seems like a solid, reliable gun. I did find a few posts about the G&P AEG's and in the few comments I read the members claimed that they would take the G&P guns over CA anyday, except that they would require replacing some faulty internal parts that break easier. Ok here is the specs off evike.com for those who dont know too much about these guns:

Ok so Basically the price of the G&P gun is a whole whopping $10 more. However, you do get a nice metal red dot and mount for the extra cash. So here are the questions:

1. WHICH WOULD YOU GET?
2. What parts really need to be replaced for the G&P gun?
3. Which has the better, sturdier, metal body?
4. and finally, can both these guns fit the large 9.6v 3300mah STAR crane stock batteries?

The only thing that I can say is that the G&P is that the battery that you want will not fit in the Crane Stock unless you change it to the Prime Crane Stock.

Cheers

Are you sure? I just looked at the battery that WGC links you to for the G&P gun. The battery it tells you to use literally says "Sanyo 9.6V 1700mAh for STAR High Capacity Stock". So if its for the STAR hi capacity stock, dont you think that these other batteries for the STAR stock would fit? It looks like it is the same size? Anyways, what made you say that? Anyone have personal experience with 9.6V 3xxx Mah batteries in the G&P stocks? If this is true that they dont fit, that would be a BIG plus for the CA gun cause I dont wanna spend another $70 for a slightly larger crane stock.

G&P makes a battery specifically for their crane stocks, and it fits fine. I've ordered a couple for local guys up here. Got with it, or get it speced and copy it and you should be fine. It's branded G&P not Star, I've got them from UNc typically.

On the G&P a couple things to watch are the hopup and tappet plate, G&P has said they have had problems with them, but if its one of the newer ones that Evike happens to be stocking and not old stock they should be the new versions with out the problems.

From looking at the CA metal bodies I've seen versus the G&P I have, I find the G&P to be a stronger metal and the trades are definately a lot clearer and cleaner. For the price difference, go with the G&P.

Oh and you might find that the FPS is a bit closer to 415

Well thats quite a bit higher than their claims, but yeah I have read several reports of fps in the low 400's. Ill look around a bit on UNCompany and see what I can find battery wise. So are you saying that as long as I get the Gen II of the G&P gun they have fixed BOTH the major problems in the Gen I's? Anyone have one of these Gen II's?

P.S. I just looked on UNc and I coundnt find the batteries you are talking about. Could you give a link?

Having recently purchased the G&P CQBR I can tell you this. The overall quality is outstanding! The power is truly impressive. The battery was hard for me to find but I found a great place that makes batt's. One thing I will say is there is a slight wobble to the crane stock but otherwise I would give it an AAA rating. I got the batt's @ http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/ they were good guys and the price was good as well I would recommend this rifle highly!

I should also add that I use the intellipeak charger and after a few charge/discharges my 9.6 charges full in about 15 - 18 minutes on peak charge 3.0 amps

You charge your 9.6v using 3.0 amps in 15-18 minutes?
It is really not a very healthy way to charge battery.

If you are using a 9.6v 1700mAh Nicd,

slow charge it @ < = 200mAh
OR
fast charge it @ < = 2amps (if you are in a hurry)

You will damage your expenseive battery if you charge it too fast

By the way: I will vote for G&P CQBR as well.
