Double, Triple Feeding Problem

Hello,

I have this double / triple feeding problem with my CA m15a4 carbine. I tried to open the gun and pull out the inner barrel. I did some inspections with the hop assembly and found out that the hop-knob is already flat. I've tried to replace the hop-knob with a wire insulator cut with the same size as the hop-knob and with the same thickness but a little bit hard to flat.

I put everything back and did a test fire. All is well and there's no double / feeding issue anymore.

After several weeks, the problem occurs again. I tried to check the hop-knob again but it does still looks good. No signs of flat. Anyway, I did changed it again with a new wire insulator same with the one I've used before, put everything up back and when I ran a test fire, the problem was still there.

What more fixes can you think to solve this problem? Thanks.

it might just be the clip. some of the clips do that. if its a good grade of gun dont put .12's into it that will cause multi- round jams.

okay you know how if its a medium grade gun to a high grade gun. that if you put .12'g bbs into it it tends to feed more than 1 to be fired. i was just telling them that it could be a clip based problem. thats the bases for most multi feeds that i deal with.

this is just for the feeding problem nothing else.

Try taking it to a gunsmith because it might not be the hop up. It maybe somthing to do with the nozzle or tappet plate. This is only a guess.

I'ts likely in the hop-up. If you have changed the nozzle, or chopped down as I've seen people do, that may be your problem.

Multiple feeds occur when the nozzle is not blocking the feed inlet during a fire cycle. This will allow the magazine to push as many bb's as it can up the inlet and into the hop-up. This can only occur if the hop-up is totally ineffective. Any resistance to bb flow by either an engaged hop-up or normal, undamaged hop sleeve negates this possibility.

You can rule this out very easily. Look into the the feed inlet with a flashlight. If the nozzle fully blocks the inlet, this is not the problem. You may have to cycle the gun a few times in semi and full and observe the nozzle position. Full motion of the nozzle is normal. Anything but full motion is a problem.

You also failed to mention whether there were any misfeeds prior to a multiple feed. This is also a symptom of hop problem, but may also be symptom of a mechanical problem. I have seen guns where the sector gear has been shimmed such that it bypasses the tappet plate or engages it sporadically. This may be the case, but would require you to do a complete teardown. This should be done by someone with experience in gearbox shimming in order to determine if this is the case. You would also be able to see wear marks on the tappet from this.

Its not the magazine, if it is it isn't for the reason Zion has stated. Zion the magazine has a simple spring that pushes the BB's up. The nozzle from the firing chamber is what loads the BB into the hop up.


I'm with Mcguyvers suggestion on this, hop up. Heh, a few weeks ago I was working on a KJW Para 14.4 put the hop up in backwards, firing would load multiple rounds until I think it was 2 was in there and one of two things would happen. The last one just rolled back and jammed the slide while it was coming back to load the next. Or three rounds came flying out as another one was loaded.
