So if someone can get a re-enforced Ver2 mech box to replace the stock one, than he's in business to upgrade it further. Correct me if I am wrong the CA M249 does not have a Ver3 mech box...more like the P90 type of mech box I think.
With CA and Star already selling M249 series of SAW, it good to see GP come out with their own version as it encourages competitions. Hopefully we get to see a para version as well.

The CA gearbox has no version number, but if every increase in version means an increase in strength then the CA box would be like a V500. There is absolutely NO comparison between any standard AEG gearbox and the CA 249's box. You could hammer nails with the damn thing, and taking it out of the receiver reduces the gun's weight by like a third. It is just massive. It's also the most pleasurable gearbox I have ever worked on, bar none.

The G&P kits look fantastic but the V2 gearbox is a HUGE turnoff. Stupid, stupid choice. I suppose you could always drop in a Pro Win gearbox but then you're looking at how much additional unneeded cost above the $750 USD this kit will already set you back?

Take the V2 and bin it.

Then install a gas-powered ESCORT powerplant and an LRB and you have a gas-powered, gas-fed death machine that will run rings around an AEG in terms of range, accuracy, fps, and ROF.

why are you all so turned of, because of the version 2 gearbox? it is G&P's it is reinforced and with 7mm bearings, what more can you want. it can take all the punsihment you can throw at it, 470 fps full auto no problem. i dont see the big deal. it is an excellent support weapon.

It doesn't matter how "reinforced" a V2 gearbox is, it will never match a CA249 box. The V2 is also a pain to strip down and work on compared to the CA. I take one bolt out, my butt hinges down. Push a latch, spring and spring guide pops out. Loosen two screws, gearbox is out. Once I'm into the gearbox I have no trigger assembly, selector plate, or any of that crap to mess with. Far superior system.

But I agree with Skruface. Escort FTW.

no matter how much you reinforce the V2, the very design of the thing leads to its destruction sooner or later.
