Petitions
Ok Ok, I might get flamed for this one but here it goes. I have been reading these posts about online petitions. Theres obviously no relevence to them. Any Tom Joe Dick Smack can sign it. Has anybody bothered to organize a REAL petition. If theres all these senior airsofters out there and those are the guys that are going at least once a week, why dont they step up and start sending a real petition to ALL of the major airsoft Arena/venues. Have only +18 sign. People will sign. Even the people that go once a year/month will sign. People have fun playing and most people would just sign it because they know its fun and most canadians believe in theyre freedom. The government cant refuse a serious petition like that. I know that it has to be a certain amount of signatures before the government will accept it. Have the people in power decide the format for the petition(regulations, etc.) and start sending them all over canada. Send them to all of the age verifiers for instance. It would be theyre responsibility to make sure you get so many signatures and send it back to the powers to be. As long as each page has a header stating what the petition was sign for. Its alot of work and I know people have said it before but we have to stop bitching and do something about it. QUIT BEING CHAIRSOFTERS! I read the post about Greylocks talking with the CFC. Thats great. One step at a time. So I guess what Im trying to get at is, online petitions bad, real petitions good. For some reason 5000 seems to ring a bell. Thats an achievable number to me. And send that big fancy letter that you sent before with the petition. And please, if you dont like my idea dont get all nasty. This must be doable. I think organization is the key. Thanks and take care.

Sounds like an idea to me. And yeah, I believe online petitions have no legal standing at all. Has to be paper.

And if you had read the last petition post you would have seen that paper petitions have been tried before:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...light=Petition http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...light=Petition The community has been doing petitions for many years now, you might want to hit that search button a bit more before posting. It is a tried and true idea for many movements but look up what they did in the UK to get a better understanding of what it takes to get Airsoft recognized. Other countries have done this before us, search the internet for more information and it might help everyone get a better understanding of this, rather then everyone ranting and flying off the handle... |

There was obviously not enough effort put into it. Like I said, if there is a petition with 5000 real life signatures(if that is the number), they CANNOT ignore it. In case anyone forgot, we have human rights. This is a free country but it almost seems like its becoming a dictatorship.( You cant smoke here, you cant shoot little airsoft guns, you cant do this, you cant do that). Fuck does canada have any balls anymore. Men 100 years ago would shake theyre fuckin head at us. We need to stand up for our rights. I hate this, now Ive ranted into a fight the power post. Dammit

A 5-year old can sign a petition. Takes a real (group of) adults to negotiate with the government about the future of our sport.

the reason we are not all driving electric cars is simply because of money. if a petition is made with proof that there is money to be made for the government they will listen. ie. the government controls all alcohol prices. that government price is mostly profit for them. if they control the sale of airsoft guns with a flat rate that is mostly profit for them they will have no problem legalizing airsoft. thats my 2cents...

important thing is too address those who control the future quietly. If it blows up then there will be soccer moms against us trying to do the same thing. i dont even know where to start but the quieter this is the better.

Our man here does have a point. I mean, we are supose to be governed by the people are we not? As of late we have not been asking or telling our people what we want. It certainly is time to put something into action and try to solve this problem. So far our attempts to hold tight and hope it will go away have managed to come up with adverse effects. Oh, Don't stir the bees nest! it is high time we stood up for ourselves and did something.
Haveing said that... What, How, Who, When and where? The Brits and their action is always a good place to start.

Constitution Act of 1982
Guarantee of Rights and Freedoms Rights and freedoms in Canada 1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society. Pick your brains with that. And dont say that "oh that was 1982". Its still our constitution. Last edited by Bakes; March 1st, 2007 at 18:09.. |

I dont think we would want this. The main concern on theyre mind is public safety period. The PAL idea would probably be the best idea out there yet if they were to regulate. We dont want them controlling the price of our guns. |
