CA AUG A2 Question
Hey all. So I got this AUG brand new a few months ago and I'm really happy with it. But, the gearbox is extremely noisy. People can hear me firing a mile off. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix that? Silencer more than likely wouldn't fix it because the noise is coming from the back of the gun.

have people said it was loud or do you think it is? With Augs most of the noise is right at your ear so it seems louder to user

Nope I was playing some one on one on Sunday and they totally told me they could hear me firing, and it was fairly windy out.

The AUG has a LOT of space around the mechbox. I've read a lot about inserting sound dampening foam/fabric in there, but never actually seen (or heard) it done myself.

or,,,instead of silencing it you could become so damn good at weilding the aug that when you are in battle your opponents will uterly fear the sound of your weapon,,,just a thought.

look at the motor adjustment se screw. it might simply be too tight and the gears have a hard time running...
Otherwise. I saw an AUG filled to the top with some sound suppressing material... does part of the job, but still a noisy gun. I had one before... Now I have a P90... almost don't hear it myself.... Try that and if it still does a lot of noise, then you might have an other problem... |

oh man, i dinomated mine and new kids nicknamed it the "gost". You can fit like 2 layers of the stuff in there too.

I own an AUG and although it seems loud to me (your ear is right against the mechbox) it is ultra quiet. I added a silencer and then went to a phantom silencer barrel. Like Voodoo said he put dynamat on the inside of the gun. This is what I am going to do as well. There are several AUGs here in AB that have been dynamatted and they are ultra quite. Just pull the mech box and put dynamat on the insides of the stock...... don't put it on the mech box as well or it won't fit back together easily.
You can also pull out all the working parts of the gun and fill the stock with mono foam and just carve it out to fit everything back in. Dynamat is costly but easy to do, mono foam is cheap but a pain in the ass to carve out. |

I dont know, if I saw a Spartan Hoplit march on to the field, Yell "SPARTANS! PREPARE FOR GLORY!" Then charged at me, I don't think my PD M4 would even make it to the high ready

I ijust got my CA AUG A2, and it too seems very loud, even at a distance. But It probalby doesn't help any that I am running it with a 10.8v battery in it. After having rebuilt the entire body (because I needed to modify things for my liking!) there is deffently room in there for dynamatting. I think because there is so much extra room, it might make it louder just from that.
