Exclamation Upgrading for Spring Season. Armilite people please read

I've been using my G&G GR-16 without any complaints. Its great stock (320-330fps) but lets do a little bit of tune of this this year.

I've done a bit of homework and I've purchased and installed

G&G GR16 R4 SPECS
- Systema Bore up cylinder kit (Bore up cylinder, piston head, aluminum piston, nozzle).
- Systema M120 spring
- Crane stock with 9.6v/nimh 3.3amps
- hurricane 552 holo sight (kicks ass)
- powder coated my entire gun. looks like its indistructable now heh
stock gears
stock barrel
stock hop up system

it was expensive but its much better now. i get 390fps i think. my chony died right after i tested the first shot. So gotta get it tested again.

anyway here are my questions down here.

1) I'm debating on getting new gears but im not quite sure if i need to and i dont know what the difference between high torque and speed gears is. As a matter of fact im not quite sure my G&G gr16 has them already?

2)I'm considering on getting a new barrel. Precision barrel and something longer. Its going to be passed my stock barrel but i was thinking of adding a compresser/silencer to hide the lengthened barrel. Would a lengthen barrel prove to be that more useful with a bore up system kit?

3a) Big problem, my motor messed up on me. I think i messed it up some how when i was testing it with the new power sourse we have at work. I was trying to learn and test it at the same time and noticed that my motor would work only when i gave it 4.5 amps through it. nothing below. And at times it wouldnt work at all. So tossed it.

3b) What type of motor do i need to replace it. I've read on TM eg7000 and eg1000 but i've heard they are quite whiny and would like something a bit queiter. I've looked at the Systema's motors but i'm stumped again. There are i think 4 different types but the threads that have links to information on the search have all died. So if someone could explain to me that would be great. since i want to airsoft on the 21st that would be great!!

my badd if my post has been asked and repeated, i've tried researching them with the amount of time i have online. Please any suggestions and comments please do add. I'll add pictures of my AEG sometime soon. I've always wanted to show how much powder coating can handle.

1) high torque = higher torque, lower rate of fire. High speed gears = lower torque, higher rate of fire. Simple enough, eh?. G&G gr16 = "standard ratio", which means in between higher torque and higher ROF. Higher torque can crank a high FPS spring while requiring less battery capacity, while sacrificing rate of fire. Pick what you are willing to sacrifice.

2. A longer tightbore will give a greater performance boost over a bore up kit. Bore up kits will not yield any significant performance boost until you use springs that are M130 (430fps) or stronger. btw, most Canadian fields will not allow you to use more than 400fps with a standard AEG. In other words, a bore up kit is mostly useless in Canada, unless you are building a very specialized gun.

3) Your gun requires a "long" type motor. eg1000 motors are not that whiny at all. Eagle Force Hummer motors are quieter than Systema motors. TM motors are fairly quiet, as they are. I have no comment on G&G motors.

thanks

i forgot to mention i intalled an m130 spring due to reason for buying the bore up kit. Then i figured that it was passed 400fps. damnit, yea it was a waste of money.

I'll look into the eagle force motors, since i'd like a quieter motor.

A great way to make your gearbox quieter is to go with higher torque helical gears. It relieves a lot of tension off the motor, so it doesn't have to work as hard to crank the spring. If it works less, it whines less.

more questions to add

4) what kind of silencer/suppressor would work consealing the barrels, and does anyone know by chance the length i need to use? Im sure i can figure it out but since im here i might as well ask

5) Grenade launchers. I know they arent very effective but when u need it u dont have it and i was caught in some situations where it would have been handy, i was looking into the madbull m203. Read some reviews but i havent seen them much on m4. Do they look like a pipe wraped on your barrel?

6) There arent any reviews at all for the Hero Arms dual electric mags. Anyone have any say?

I can only answer #4 from personal experience. I went from a stock M4 length to a 455mm AK length and just picked up a King Arms delta force silencer. Its 110mm by 30mm. Looks great and hides the barrel. Basicly just figure out the length of your barrel (remember with the longer barrel you will need to change up your cylinder) and how far its going to stick out of the barrel then find a silencer long enough to hide it.

A little bit of math for you...(this is what I did)

M4 Barrel = 363mm (keep in mind I used the actual length of the m4 inner barrel because it sits flush with the outer barrel...you might have it a bit different so you might have to measure from the outer barrel....but I could be wrong.)
AK Barrel = 455mm

THUS! 455mm - 363mm = 92mm left So that means I would need a silencer > 92mm and the king arms one was like 25 bucks and covered the barrel with a bit to spare.

Hope that helps

another big question

7) i noticed my aluminum piston and my stock gear box does not line up right. What i mean is the side of the piston there are grooves that meet up with the gear boxes grooves to match them up. I was wondering if systema reinforced gear boxes fixes this problem or does everyone have this same problem?

Do you have a photo of the problem? Does the piston bind? Does it not move properly?
