Leaking KJW Glock 23 mag, which way is cheaper?
It's leaking out of the fill valve on the bottom of the mag. My question is this. Cheaper and easier for me to buy a new valve, if it's even possible, and figure out how to install the damn thing myself? Or just buy a whole new mag all together?
Thanks Matt |

Ive got the same issue. Pop the mag open and check the oring. Maybe lube it up or switch it out with a newer if needed. Its worth a shot atleast. Best of luck getting it up and running.

If I remember correctly you can remove the valve and try rejuvinating the o-ring seal by soaking it in a lightweight silicone oil (like a 4 weight or whatever it is that comes with the AI adapters). Also you may want to try a wee bit of teflon tape around the threads when you put it back. I had to do this once a month with one of my KJW G23 mags.

Yeah, it's gonna cost me at least 50 bucks to get ONE new one. I agree, it's worth at least taking it apart and checking what's up. I know jack all about internals of mags and guns and all so I've never dared open them up other than standard field stripping for maintainence once a month, but I guess since it's already leaking, not much more damage I can do =P Lets see what I can learn! Thanks guys
*EDIT* Okay, got it apart fairly easily, now to soak it, you mean just the whole top of the gas reservoir or should I try and get the seal ring off? And should I soak it just in a little cup of the oil or something or just pour it on. The only silicone oil I've got is AI 1.5wt silicone oil Last edited by matt491; September 18th, 2007 at 19:50.. |

soak rubber parts (i.e O-ring) with silicone oil. AI's sili oil would do fine. Soak it not rinse it so you'd have to soak it overnight or at least for the whole afternoon.

It doesn't want to come off too easily and I'm afraid to tear it. Is it supposed to be a pain in the ass to get off?

Buy an assorted pack of new O-rings from Princess auto or CanTire for $3, and replace it.
