MIL PTW comes with M130 instead of M150, trades are different for sure, as well they supposedly come with a bright blue pistol grip for easy ID. Other than that, I'm not sure what else they've done.

But irregardless, unless you know someone in the military with direct access to them, you won't ever see one. They aren't for sale to the general public. That's what the other PTWs are for.

Id found the chart i just wasn't sure what the difference between a mill spec gear box and the max gear box was, it doesn't get much more durable than hardened steel. though i guess ill never know as there not available to the public.

You know you can buy a Systema gun in Canada, right? A&A just got some. All reviews about them are universally positive. I wish I could afford one and I dont like the M-16 series.

(You can if you are over 18 and live in Canada, your profile does not say)

I think they are referring to the military ones.

I know they refer to a variant, but apart from the looks they cant be all that different? Still the cat's meow of guns.

Cpl.Yu ,on the PTW forums has mentioned in some posts, that there's nothing really special about this gun. It's essentially a MAX with a warranty, and different trades.

MAX ftw?

The warranty is quite the boon though. Cpl. Yu has already damaged and had replaced free of charge three PTWs, IIRC. Rather than replacing a part, you send the mil PTW back and they either repair it or replace it.

Yeah, I read that part too.

See, that's what I don't understand.. Why don't they atleast make the uppers on the milspec PTWs 7071?

I'm not familiar with the differences in hardness or quality in most metals, but if it would require a tooling change to reliably and efficiently produce bodies from a different metal then it might be cheaper for them simply to replace broken parts.

I would rather see the lower made of tougher stuff, in a real weapon.. its the Upper that has to deal with the pressure.. and agressively moving parts.. but in an airsoft.. that is really not a concern as all the parts are consolidated in the cylinder.., as long as the barrel body junction is solid, Besides you can fit RS uppers to a PTW

Whereas the lower receiver is where the stock fits to the body... and one of the principle stress points... It would seem to me that using real bodies both upper and lower.. and modifying to fit the Mechbox and cylinder sets into these bodies makes economic sense... I suspect however that there may be trademark and other proprietary issues.

Anyway.... here we are chatting about how to make this thing better when it is already so much better than the typical gun....

Maybe cost is infact the issue. But until Systema steps up the quality of Mil/LE PTWs, they'll be second to Simunition... And I'm pretty sure their goal is to become the leading training weapons mfg.

Simunition.. first to market with a realistic FOF system... and they spent a lot of coin marketing at first... now they are defacto..the prevelant FOF simulator.. for LE and more and more for military as well...their reciever swap to in service weapons is a big bonus.. but their cost up front and feeding costs are high... I expect they are looking over their shoulder at Systema.. but they are just a dark spot on the horizon..

Systema... has a lot of ground to cover... and they need to expand their product offerings... they have done so with the M16 M4 varient proliferation...but until they have a MP5 ( due out in Feb 08 ) and a Glock pistol under their banner... they really can't stand in the same room.

Systema needs someone to adopt their system for training... to date they really can't point at a recognizable group of noteworthies that are seriously using them...The fact that the PTW is gaining traction in the "airsoft" world is not a feather in their cap... and likely is damaging their chances of having LE/MIL take them seriously than it is helping them...

The uppers seem to be the first to go on PTWs... atleast from what I've read/seen.

The only thing I'd want to be improved, is a stronger receiver set...
