TM S-system conversion
Hey,
Just curious... does anyone know if I could remove the fore-grip off of my s-system and install a standard m4 front end on it? I have a front end off of a TM m4 new type and wanted to switch it over. The reason I'm doing this is I'd like a standard m4 for my kit rather than an s-system.

You'd have to remove the whole SIR system including the top rail. However, the S' upper receiver is not a standard M4 receiver and does not have a flat top rail of its own.

EDIT: Endymion is probably rite but this PIC looks like it may come off of the upper like a CAVS or whatever its called if not I have a M4 front end and upper reciver to trade if you want
I do not think there will be any problem the front end of the S system is attached to the flat top of the reciver via the rail when you detach this and remove the upper and lower hand guards you will see that it looks simmaler to the stock M4 fron end except the flip up iron sights and the lack of the proper ring to hold the stock M4 hand guard I think you could just change the little dodads Delta ring sights and stuff but just swaping out the whole outer barrel should be easier. I'm only doing this with pics of the S-System but it seems like a relativly straight forward swap. I'd also be interested in the S-System front end if you want to part with it.

While the SIR system will come off relatively easily, you'll still have the issue of the upper receiver not having any type of rail mounting of its own. If you're really set on changing the front end, you'd probably be better off selling the complete upper and SIR and picking up a new body to go with that new handguard or rail system. This might also open up the possibility of a 1:1 trade.

+1 on Endymion's suggestion.
Also, the S-System's outer barrel setup is not compatible with a standard M4 RIS setup and so, a complete swap is required. Keep in mind, that the S-System's front end is much more valuable than a standard RIS, I wouldn't do a 1:1 swap, as I find the standard Marui RIS to be inferior (it's the wobble that kills it.) You're better off selling the SIR as a complete S-System conversion along with the upper receiver, buying a new flat top receiver and using the left over funds to score a better RIS replica like the one that Huang is selling, or if you can afford it, a G&P solution. |

I think he said he wants the M4A1 look for his kit no rails and such just the standard M4 front end however it seems all that is required is a flat top upper as he has the rest of the parts.
