Painting a holster
I don't know if this counts as an upgrade or a modification but I didn't know where else to post it, so here goes.
I just bought a holster and it came in olive drab kinda camo and I want to paint it black if there is such a way. Any ideas? I thought about just using a sharpie to color it since it's just the usual holster kinda material, but is there a better way? A dye or something I can use for fabrics? |

What material is it?
If it's Cordura, I'd suggest using something like BBQ spraypaint and just soak it. And if it's plastic...same thing but don't soak it

I would have bought a black one if I could have found that in the first place! I found this one forsale here in the forums for 25, if I order it from the states and other places, with shipping and all, it'll be a lot more. *shrugs* I can live with it having a shatty paintjob on it, no one's looking at how you look when they're shooting you anyway, I just want it to NOT stand out like a sore thumb in an indoor CQB game.

Well...you COULD dye it. That would prolly require bleaching the sh!t out of it, then dropping it in a bucket filled with black dye.

OD shouldn't stand out in a CQB game... Even if everything else you wear is black.

Anyways, that holster must be stamped out by the thousands in China or something. I think the most popular labeling of them is Leapers (aka UTG) here in North America. To name a few Canadian sources, Marstar has them in black, but almost $40. A&A has them for $30, but not in black.

I think you can trade those for different kinds of equipment with an extra cost at Army Surplus. The one where I go to Buys and Sells. If you had to paint it, it would just crack off, especially with those string straps. But in a daycare I went to for a school thing, they have this permanent paint for clothes. Like you paint T-Shirts. Maybe You can try those. Not sure where to get them, maybe Wal-Mart? Or any art supply store.

"Design Master ColorTool Spray". Get it at most crafts stores (Michaels, etc.). It's a Spray Paint that you can use on fabrics.

Theres always spray paint, it sounds sorta harsh and barbaric, but hell it usually comes out find. I spray paint my shit all the time, looks fine, still works good. No harm no foul.
