Transporting Airsoft guns on the TTC

Hi All,
I just wondered if anyone had any insight / experience on the legality and pacticality of transporting Airsoft guns via TTC.
I realize that like usual the gun would have to be in a lockable ( and locked ) rifle case. I read the by-laws on the train and it said that you may not transport any dangerous materials / goods even if they are in an approved container... it seem to me that it is unlikely that would apply to Airsoft guns.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

duffelbag or soft shell guitar case works for aegs.

Or Y'know.. A proper locked gun case like you're supposed to transport them in.

Not that I recommend this, but it was just a passing thought.

A guitar case with outter locks, thats inside has been modded with a foam insert to hold the AEG. Atleast you wouldnt look like you were transporting any firearm. However I do understand at the sametime the issues that could arise if a person were caught with something like that. Realistically a locked gun case is your best choice, however I am not farmiliar with your local transit laws, so I will not recommend anything.

I wonder what people would think if they saw a rifle bag or a gun case on your lap.

I think that transporting it in a guitar case / duffel bag is probably a bad idea. If police did get involved somehow then that would be asking for major trouble...

Unfortunately the TTC is the only real option for me as I don't drive or have a car ( I'm an Aussie so driving here would be very strange... ). Has anyone had any experience whatsoever with transporting via TTC?

I might call the TTC and ask them too acutally.. let me see if I can find a number.

hmm i'd be willing to bet he had it out in the open. I don't think anyone is really likely to make a scene if it's not visible and properly locked away. But I want to make sure because a conviction here would undoubtedly get me deported back to Australia.

I'd use a dufflebag or keyboard case in public transport rather than anything which screams "gun inside". Even if it's proper locked case, it seems to me that it would attract way more attention and potential trouble.

most that are subjecated(sp) to TTC to get around, find more descreet ways of transporting...Amos do they even in have a public transit system where you are? (Insert Torontonian arogance here).

Best option is to carpool with someone to transport them properly of course.

I just talked to the police here and they said that it should be fine as long as the gun is in a locked case and the ammunition is stored separately ( ie: in another bag ).

The TTC operator said that she thought it was a bad idea and pointed to the TTC by-law that states "the TTC shall not be required to carry any goods / materials that are dangerous / offensive in nature regardless of whether they were in an approved container".

The TTC operator seemed very unsure though and referred me to another unit of the TTC which would be able to help further ( I believe it's the headquarters of their Special Constables, they aren't open on weekends ). Apparently the TTC can supply you with a letter regarding your case ( if they feel it's appropriate ) that you would be able to present to any TTC personnel that approach you, to make sure that you can travel without any problems...

Given that the police gave me the go-ahead I will transport my gun home tonight, but I will contact the TTC again tomorrow and get further information.
I'll post anything I find out here for future reference.

NOTE: In all cases when talking to the police and to the TTC I referred to the airsoft gun in question as an air-rifle and said that I was transporting it to and from a firing-range. This was done to avoid the whole "are airsoft guns replicas or air-rifles" malarky. If anyone thinks that was a bad idea please post detailing why...

I doubt the TTC is going to be airsoft friendly. I have no problem taking it on the bus. I don't want to take it on the subway though.
edit: That letter by the ttc sounds like a great idea to get.
