Quick Question: Recommended Mods for TM 1911 GBB
Hey guys. Just a quick question. what do i need to just be able to use this for basic cqb and field play using propane/redgas/topgas?
TM 1911 GBB. Can it be just fine stock as it is? i read on a site that if using propane an enhanced hammer spring should be installed for the magazine or something like that. im not too sure what this means. any help on the upgrades? ive read that the TM1911 doesnt need the metal slide upgrade until the plastic is broken and im tight on cash so upgrades that are essential not for flash and show would be great to hear thanks! Thanks MadLz Taken from http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=2075 Quote:

Just stick to propane/green, get yourself a propane adaptor. You don't need any upgrades for that. Yes, you can shoot on propane until the slide breaks. What do you actually need? About 4 mags would be my recommendation for fun.

A tightbore will improve groupings as well as increase the power of the gun slightly... With the small gas reservoir, your options on increasing the power are limited, my 1911 went from firing 300 fps to shooting 320 fps with a PDI 6.01mm barrel.

Pretty much what I was planning on doing, metal later on when chance presents itself, or plastic breaks lol.

your best upgrade is most likely the tightbore barrel. if you crave more power in the future, put a high flow valve in your mag. However you will need to spend a lot of money for the gun to cope with the high flow valve. you'd have to install a enhanced recoil spring & guide rod, metal slide and outer barrel. if its for cqb i'd be happy with a tightbore or even, no mod at all. since recent TM gbbs can take the abuse from propane, you probably won't even need a metal slide for another year or two. Explain what's so complicated about installing a recoil spring. The spring and guide rod assembly easily slips out during a quick takedown.
If your gun is still plastic and you plan on shooting propane, I actually recommend you upgrade to an enhanced recoil spring as one of the FIRST upgrades you should get, in order to reduce the impact on the slide after the initial movement of the blowback cycle as it slams backwards against the frame. This is when damage typically occurs, and a stronger recoil spring will reduce that impact as well as improve blowback cycling speed in general. |

One thing I did to my 1911 was change the stock piston head over to a nine ball vented piston head. It made a nice improvement with gas consumption. I was able to get a few more shots out of the mag, which is nice because the 1911 mags dont hold much gas.
I installed the small spring, but ended up removing it because it made the gun a gas hog, without giving much increase in fps. http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=345 Last edited by milehigh; February 29th, 2008 at 23:35.. |

If that's the case, it's still very simple to install in 1911/2011 type guns. The main spring is a very easy swap, unlike KSC Glocks. |
