Upgrading from SR16 full stock to Crane
Hey guys
I've been wanting to change my full stock to a Crane style stock for a while now. The wiring is currently through the rear, using a large-type battery in the stock and I don't want to have to rewire the gun. I understand that some crane stocks can accommodate a battery, but it's unclear as to whether this battery can power the AEG or simply the upgrades, like a laser or surefire. What stock would you recommend? My gun is a TM Knights SR16, with a full metal body. I'm looking for something sturdy that will withstand the kind of abuse a metal body can go through. Price is no object; I want quality. Thanks for your help! |

You wouldn't need to rewire the battery wires from the mechbox but you'll need to change the connector. The 2 Crane stocks I have had was an APEX and the G&P. Both take a 9.6V 1700mAh battery which is enough to run my guns at 400fps.
I like the Crane stocks that take those kind of battery packs. Other Crane that take larger batteries have a flater cheekwell to fit the bigger batteries. APEX makes a limited edition version that is fiber reinforced plastic if you want something really tough. I don't think you'll need that as both regular stocks are pretty strong already. Depending on your metal body, you would have to modify the buffer tube support by shortening it. You would also need to make a clearance hole to let the wire pass.
