Question upgrading mp5 and aug

i currently have an ics mp5... stock except barrel
the stock spring is an m120 and its just a little too much power for the short barrel, even with the tight bore...so i was thinking downgrading to an M100 and in the process check if anything else needs replacing in the gearbox. also i want to put a new firefly hopup bucking in because i hear they are great.
...
then when the mp5 is down to an M100 ill obviously need a long range weapon also because that wont do too well. yet another excuse to spend money on a new gun:razz:
so im thinking TM aug:
tightbore
firefly bucking
M110
metal bushings
also thinking about an angel silent head set for both guns...along with the angel piston......any thoughts on that set or piston?
....
any parts im missing that will be nessesary for either gun?
is the aug ok or should i consider something else?
are both upgrades/downgrades good or would you recommend something different?

I have an AUG with a Systema M120 in it, and it has TONS of range and punch through bush. Chronies at 400.

yea thats what i was thinking but then i figured why put all that stress on the gear box and spend money on gears and pistons when i can just do an m110 and be good for a longer time and still get 350fps...
what else do you have in your aug besides the spring?

I have metal bushings and a Systema bearing spring guide. Everything else is stock, and it's doing fine.

Get a Modify 100 spring from Jugglez, should net you around 370fps and will give you plenty of range (only if you use 0.28g BBs), and keep a great rate of fire, while being nice to your battery life. Both my MP5s were sub-400fps, and even when my MP5A was shooting 365fps with 0.20g BBs, I easily could put bursts of 0.28g BBs clear past 200ft.

So don't understimate the heavier BB thing, it literally should be the first upgrade any player does for outdoor games (I use everything between 0.28g to 0.43g BBs in my KSC Glock 19, and it's rather easy to hit guys out to, and sometimes past, 120ft). If you want a good fps just under 400fps, and if you are still only using 0.20g BBs, you won't really see any increase in effective range or penetration at all. 0.25g or 0.28g only for upgraded outdoor guns.

you really think if i use .28s and use an M120 in my mp5 i could hit out to 200ft??
if that is true than i could save loads of money and time, im not really interested in having two primary weapons.... why would i ever need two??
i would also upgrade gears, piston, silent piston head and cylinder set, tappet plate....everything really and throw in a new M120 or possibly a Modify 100 like stalker said..... so everything is reliable as hell and last as long as possible because i dont really trust the stock ICS internals from wht ive heard.

I've had it for about a year or so. About 5 or 6 games.

Use a lighter spring and it'll be no problem. Mine at the time had a Prometheus 110 in it, metal bushings and a Guarder tappet plate (I got it used, so had to replace it) but ZERO other upgrades, and I was clearing a large rock 200ft away at Sniper Hunt last year. So just put in a Modify 100 spring, leave the parts you have in there, they should be fine, and just replace what yo uneed to, when you need to (oh ya, some items in your ICS gun can only be replaced by ICS parts, is true regarding the M4 series, can't exactly see the two being that much different. Just a heads up anyways, no point in your wasting $200 on parts only to find that $100 worth of the parts won't work in your ICS). And just because you pay more for aftermarket parts like Systema, doesn't mean that your gun will be more reliable. I've seen the opposite at least a dozen times of the past few years of being a gun tech.

Regarding my MP5A, I've added more upgrade parts to it over the winter, tightbore, bearing spring guide, Modify 90 spring, Trigger Master unit (set for 2rd burst), and even though it's only shooting 320-330fps right now, 150ft using 0.28g BBs has been done, just haven't had a chance to try for farther yet, I've only used the gun once and was a night game.

Largely I've busted the myth regarding one needing high fps to get range, it's completely false. I had to downgrade my CA M24 sniper rifle to 340fps for a game, and when setting it up I was still able to get 0.30g BBs out to close to 300ft.

Nushell for range and penetration, upgrade the ammo first, then upgrade the gun. 400fps is no more effective than 370-380fps, it only wears your parts out faster.

so if i put in a modify 100..... what is that equivlent to for a systema.... a 120 roughly? im not familiar with modify springs..... what is the best spring (from what youve seen) to get and maintain a consistant fps of around 380.
so what your saying is i could get that spring.... and a new bucking cause the ICS one is awful and my internals should last a while? maybe a bearing spring guide to prevent twist... a new battery cause im running a cheap 9.6v right now and im thinking of running a high quality 8.4 instead maybe a 1400mah so it fits in the mp5 foregrip, although i do use a battery bag already.
i kind of want that angel silent head set cause right now its wayy loud.
and use your recomendation of .28s

Modify 100 is the best predictable spring I've found yet (the 90 is as well, put them in two MP5s with bearing srpign guides, both shoot upwards of 330fps) and I've seen it put out 370fps in a couple guns I've worked on, only other upgrade was a bearing spring guide. 370fps is the same as 380fps, no performance increase over that. And the Modify springs are nice and spongy, so your choice of a 1400mAh battery, the spring will allow you longer battery life than if you kept the 120.

BTW, the ratings are in meters per second, roughly, and you can use an online unit converter (meters to feet) to figure out approximately what the spring you are considering puts out. Lots of other factors add up the fps, but at least yo ucan ballpark it. Then again, one company's 120 spring might shoot 390fps, anothers might shoot 430fps. I really hate springs that are under rated. Madbull springs are like that, 110 is supposed to be around 360fps, my experience is 400fps with a couple other minor fps upgrades.

ok so the modify 100 sounds good to me, im thinking of also getting a firefly hop up bucking, air nozzle, cylinder head, and piston head... just because my gun is wayy to loud and inconsistant with fps like from 330 to 370 difference from one shot to the next sometimes....
also my motor feels like its moving inside my grip... i figure i should either take it out myself and reposition it or have someone else do it, because i have no idea how to position a motor properly

Upgraded parts tend to have variances like that.

As for your motor, it will move a small bit bcause of torque, but will be felt more in a gun that has no support for the motor (aka. Armalites, MP5s, etc.)

yes but i havent upgraded anything on my gun yet... thats why it leads me to think there may be an airleak somewhere. and i hate the noise it makes when fired anyway... do u have any experience with different silent head sets or have an opinion on what brand would be best?

Silent pistonheads don't always work as well as you might think they do. Systema ones are decent, Illusion swears by the Angel ones.

BTW, you have an ICS, and I've heard a few times, the best you can get for sound out of them is still gonna be noisy. In other words, tune for minimum noise.
