Found a source for Goggle fan ebay USPS
ok here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Micro-Fan-Stealt...742.m153.l1262 US $8.75 specs look pretty good to me especaillly the 15.6 dba level Specifications: Size: 25mm square x 10mm thick Voltage: 12 volts DC Current: 70mA Airflow: 1.6 CFM Weigh: 6.5 grams (.22oz) RPM: 8000 Noise: 15.6 dB-A best part is shipping is so low US $2.50 and because it is under $20-25 I doubt I'll get dinged by Customs. I've been checking out the fan controller by donP (trigger master seller) http://unconventional-airsoft.com/20...ry-fan-switch/ "The 2200uF capacitor works for my setup and keeps the transistor turned on (and the fan running) for about 10 seconds after I let go of the button. Test with different values to get something you like." I think I want to experiment with a larger capacitor to make it stay on for 30sec. Anyhow I thought I would share. I read a few reviews of the already made fan kits but most wont fit my Event goggle and I heard they are loud ~over 20-25dba. the 2.5 cm fan fits exactly on the top of my Event airvent.

No because it is not the same circuit as the fan. It is only driving the transistor.
As for increasing, I am not sure if the transistor will still switch with a highger value. We just don't want to to enter triphase. *edit* forgot to say on the last post that these fans are made to run at only 5v, so you can drive them off a lithium battery (CR123A or any photo battery) |

Sorry, I didn't read the link...if you put a resistor in series with the cap to ground then it will increase the shutoff time length. Or just buy a larger cap, I was thinking if you already had a cap in mind to use.

Thanks six4. (and Naglfar toofor resistor idea). That fanz is 18 USD +7 shipping. No specs about fan listed. The fan kit they sell does nothing special, just on/off switch.
I just need a good fan so I can mod some electonics to it. Can't justify 25USD for a single fanz when I can get a good fan for $8.75+$2.5~$11. With the money I save can buy any extra fancy parts but I already have a bunch of small caps, resistors, wire, and shrinkhose. So really don't need anything else except possibly thr 39cent 9v battery clip or possible a smaller pushbutton switch than I have. I think the fanz is good if you have no soldering experience and want a ready to go kit or and don't like to mod things, fiddle, and learn, but I do. Thats what makes it fun.

www.activesurplus.com They'll have it someone where junk pile. Cost like 3 bucks. Once you go to active surplus you will never buy any electronic part without checking if they have it first. |

Two weeks ago they (Active Surplus) had half a cardboard box of them...$2.95/each...I think (I tend to loose my mind in that place).
I'm heading over either tomorrow or Friday to grab some more. Just a note to anyone buying them. Give the wires a good (but not Hulk-ish) tug before you buy them...the last two I bought had the wires separate from the fan. |

Related question: I downloaded crocodile electronics software to test different parts and the rpm result of the fan.
Problem is they don't have a quad two transistors (strange it is a very common transistor!) as parts in the software, but the have everything else. The software tells you in real time what is happening at the motor end Rpm when you change different parts eg resistors, capacitors. Anyone suggest a more advanced software for electronic circuit design that shows graphs and results for parts when the circuit is completed? I'm not looking for drawing software, but design (with results) software. eg this is croc electronics (yenka) http://www.yenka.com/Yenka/Yenka_Pro...a_Electronics/ thanks! edit Best so far after downloading 5 different programs seems to be TINA. But if anyone has suggestions of better software, please post.
