M4 9.6v Handguard Mod

I know that for an M4, if you want to use a 9.6 v in the handguard, you usually have to use a nunchuck configuration. Can you use the more standard double column (2 columns of 4) method if you mod the handguard a little? All I think it would require is removing a bit of plastic near the front end. There are 4 little lips in total in the bottom hanguard that hold the battery in place, if the front 2 were removed, that gives a little extra space to fit in that extra cell. Has anybody done this before, and will it work?

Thanks,
Alex

Nun-chuck or u-shaped configuration works. The Fuse plate has to be removed and then the plastic ribs on the inside of the handguard. You can get a nun-chuck battery into an m4ris with some work aswell its not recommended for novices though

i thought the nunchucks and tri-chucks were for in crane stocks

how well would a nunchuck battery fit in an s-systems handguard?
bro bought one but it has a crappy battery. it hasnt arrived yet but was wondering also if a 9.6 mini type would fit in its handguard and if not would nunchucks?

Thinking about this there are technically 2 types of nun-chuck style batteries. There are the 2 columns of 4 cell type for crane stocks. Then there are the 4 columns of 2 cell type that fit in the handguard , this is also how the u-shaped ones are configured (which wgc refers to as Vshaped).

Thanks for the info so far, but what I'm trying to figure out is if a non-nunchuck nicad or nimh battery can fit into that handguard.

A traditional 8.4 V mini battery is 6 "vertical" cells (2 columns of 3 cells) and 1 "horizontal". I've never seen a 9.6 V mini of 8 vertical cells (2 columns of of 4, just like a standard large 9.6 V configuration).

Has anybody heard of a mini built in that configuration and has anybody ever seen it fit into an M4 handguard (with perhaps some modification)?

Just looking at it, it seems like it would fit, but I don't want to custom order a battery and have something screw up.

Thanks,
Alex
