Reflexive shooting problem!
I'm having some trouble, guys.
I keep hitting top left delta/charlie, which, apparently is an indication of thumbing... Problem is, I can't feel myself thumbing! IPSC, CAPS shooters, what can I do? I can probably get a target scanned up to show ya what I mean... it's friggin' weird. 3"x4" group of 20 rounds, top left charlie.... I suspected that it's because of the gun's zero, and hop setting... but it's a consistent thing. I'll sometimes land a shot in center/top alpha...but it's usually coupled in the aforementioned location. And yes, I'm left handed. Pistol = KJW "Kimber-capa". Hop properly set for 90' engagements.... Last edited by Lakonian; September 10th, 2008 at 01:12.. |

in terms of reflexive shooting, i assume you mean bringing your gun to bear and firing off shots accurately without using your sights. in that case, the hop-up or barrel may be causing this, not your shooting. as much as it may not help, my reflexive shooting skills game from paintball. While i use a really good armson OEG, i still found that when i ran into someone or i spotted someone a small ways away, i would use my reflexive shooting for my first shot or two, then as i slowing get into it, use my sight. when i am surprised in airsoft, this tends to be the case, however, i am getting my nerves under control at being ambushed and i am learning to bring my gun up and acquire my dot before shooting. dont know if that helps. the reason why suggest paintball is cause there is less stuff affecting the paintball in its flight. like airsoft both projectiles are round and affected by its internal composition (air bubbles in bbs, liquid paint in paintball). however, airsoft has the added factor of a properly set hop-up and barrel (with regards to the hop-up chamber). paintball is simply a ball and a barrel. since i wouldn't reflexive shoot outside of paintball range, that i why i suggest you practice with that.

It works great with the rifle. AK, and M4... but they don't have recoil. I also tried controlled pair drills... same results. .. *sigh*. |

Where are you firing these and from what distance?
If you're snap shooting it could be your technique... but if you're using the sights it might be a gun problem. |

The other wasn't reflexive... It was a series of controlled pairs, fired from a sitting, and supported position.... Could be gun, eh? |

Clean your barrel much?
And what distances and environment are you shooting in? Also, what weight of BB? Oh wait it's a KJW.. There's your problem! |

Maybe have someone else use the gun, try to eliminate the possibility of it being the gun? If it is a hardware issue, could there be an issue with the amount of gas being used?

If you're hitting top-left Charlie-Delta as a left handed shooter, you're not thumbing but more likely heeling or anticipating recoil.
In this case, it's more likely heeling, ie flexing the muscles at the heel of your palm too much when pulling the trigger on presentation of your sidearm. You could also be pushing with your hand too much as you present your pistol to sight. Slow down your motion and do it all in a slow yet smooth draw. Practice it and slowly increase the speed. Take mine of your hand and its movements. It stays still through the draw and trigger pull. The only thing moving should be your trigger pull, and with that, the movement is just a smooth pull to the rear with the tip of your index finger until the shot breaks.

Flip the results horizontally if you're a left-handed shooter. |

Could be that it's airsoft... Try shooting the target at 10 feet, that will correct your problem.
:P
