Clearsoft, good for backyard battles?

I'm a paintballer and not really looking to get into airsoft as there are almost no fields in my area (not to mention the wannabe military-hide behind a tree military mentality). But I do realize that airsoft has one key advantage i would like to take care of: relative cheapness for goofing around.

I want my paintballing friends to pick up some airsoft guns to goof around in my backyard, (are local woods a bad idea in Canada? i assume its pretty dangerous) but obviously did not want to pay a large sum of money to get a quality gun that i won't use on the field.

My local walmart advertised a clear m4 style rifle (from research i gather its a crossman) for 80 bucks. As far as goofing aroudn in the backyard goes, is it worth the money? When it comes to paintball I know what's worth getting and what isn't, but I'm lost on airsoft. I just want something thats somewhat reliable and not complete junk, but isn't something you need to invest a lot money into.

Most Wal mart guns are complete junk, the M4's will break eventually, you might try getting their shotguns though they seem last a little bit longer.

I'd say save the $80 to spend on a case of paint or two

Complete junk is what you're going to get for $80. If you don't feel like spending more because you find airsoft to be wannabe military, I'd suggest that you save your money on ricing up your Honda Civic, I mean, paintball marker.

If you want to goof around, I'd recommend Nerf guns instead.

lol i mentioned the wannabe military thing because many airsofters I have seen (not to mention a lot of mil-sim paintballers) get this holier-than-thou attitude that irritates me. Not only that, but when your not in the military, it seems kind of nerdy to go all out. I understand a little camo for the outdoor games, but its silly especially in paintball to see ridiculous amounts of scopes and . Not to mention I heard a story from a paintballer playing airsoft about being asked to leave because he and his buddies rushed up and were too aggressive (speed ball style) and were dominating the tree huggers.

I mean no disrespect to those who like realistic looking airsoft guns and don the odd piece of camo to gain some advantage outdoors, but these guys who think they are SWAT or military SF really detract from the image of airsoft. Im sure im not the only person who thinks this, and would personally like to try it if there was a way of renting, as I heard the only local place doesnt rent. I can't justify buying equipment for something I have no idea what it's like.

My Nerf suggestion was completely serious. They make Nerf machine guns now.

Part of the reason the airsoft players you saw had all the tactical gear is that you need something to carry all the gear you use in. besides who wants to run around the woods with a bunch of extra mags in there pants. unless you have one of those insane box style high caps. then you won't needs an extra.

Lol well most of the water guns are kinda pointless (you just run and hose, kinda hard to have "outs").

As for nerf, I havent been keeping up with recent models, but I kinda like the idea of being able to shoot a fair distance, the nerf guns I usedto shoot were kinda pointless; better to rush the guy and beat him over the head with the gun :P

Well that is also true, but it still drives me up the wall when people don all this useless aesthetic equipment that just kinda makes you look like nerdy wannabes.

Am i completely incorrect when I beleive that there are players who play more run and gun instead of pretending to be something their not?

They were more then likey asked to lave for violating MED rules and not calling hits (not assuming, just contemplating) And stories from the effected party are ALWAYS filled with holes and mis-information so make it look like they did nothing wrong. That is simply a rule of life these days.

Anyways, if your only going to come on here to sprad your stories and dislike of our mil-sim games, stick to paintball and nerf guns.
I would highly suggest playing some airsoft before gaining a view on it. come into the sport with an open mind and not what your firends say. If your not willing to do that, stay away from us.

We wear what we need to get into the experience. We don't understand why most of your speedballers dress up like BMX bikers. They're obviously not BMX bikers.

Most people play airsoft in part because it has a degree of make belief to it. Like cops and robbers for adults. If you're looking to just run and gun and think what we do is silly, we'd advise you to stick to paintball and well away from airsoft. Just as you want nothing to do with the likes of us because of our mentality, we want nothing to do with the likes of you because of yours. To each their own.
