1.i havent sprayed silicone into the barrel yet ..i have read that this needs to be done ?....true /false ...how is it done

2. is there any maintenance that i should be aware of (like the silicone thing)

3. it shoots around 285 fps what is needed and where can i get the parts and mods done to make it around 325 fps

Not necessary.

For that few rounds, not really, especially not with a TM. Generally I like to open the mechbox every 10,000 rounds or so and check for wear and tear on components like the tappet plate and piston.

For 325, an M90 spring, tightbore, piston head, cylinder head, nozzel, bearing spring guide, and metal bushings.

Though if you didn't want to do all that, just an M90 or M100 spring (you'll have to confirm that with someone else.. not sure what those shoot at), metal bushings, and a bearing spring guide should do it.

For a 7 year old AEG I would also be tempted to check the rubber components like the O-rings around the piston and cylinder head as well as the hop-up rubber to make sure they're still in good condition.

here's my setup on my Sig 552:

-DeepFire titanium tooth piston
-Modify aluminum piston head
-Modify aluminum cylinder head
-Sorbo Pad
-Prometheus M100 spring
-Modify air seal nozzle
-Shim kit
-Modify double-groove stainless bushings
-new Hop up rubber & bucking
-Madbull tightbore barrel
-11.1V Lipo battery

OK now, after all that, I know my way around a V3 mechbox pretty good, and I've got a really good performing machine. Nice and quiet, precise, and quick on the ROF. Chronied it a couple weeks ago at the FR game- consistent at 353 FPS. just keep the barrel clean- it can accumulate a bit of crud after a while.

#1 thing with any gun, you've got to shim it, whatever brand it is.

Hope this helps.

From my experience after 7 years you really need to check the seal of the cylinder assembly.

if you have a compression issue you shoud change the cylinder and piston head for a nice modify unit.

And yes a spring m100 and a spring guide is all you need to make it shoot at 350 fps.

i woud not use anything lower than a m100 or quivalent so when you use hevier bb you will remain in the desired fps range.

If the BB's are flying as far as they always do and that the fps is the same it's a pretty good sign that ther's no compression issue.

You will notice when it will happen.

Range will be affected and velocity.

Shimming is the correct space between the gears and the shell in the gear box.

From Shorty airsoft....this is why i asked the question ...just wondering why some say its necessary and some say no

100% silicone lube (50ml)
Even though the label says it is for use in gas guns this lube will work on any type of airsoft gun. Spring, gas or electric.
Decals on can may vary
Made just for airsoft guns
Your gun will last longer if it is properly maintained. You should lubricate your spring or electric airsoft gun every 3,000 to 6,000 shots. Gas guns should be lubricated every 1,000 to 3,000 shots depending on the gun and type of BB being used.
Sometimes new guns may need to be lubricated initially to ensure proper functioning
Airsoft lube will fix 90% of the problems you may encounter with your airsoft gun. It may make the gun shoot poorly the first 100 rounds or so after spraying in the barrel, you may wipe the barrel with a swab to take away excess lube
On rifles spray into the gun through the feed tube in the magazine well, with the magazine out of the gun
A short burst of Airsoft Gun Lube down the barrel of your airsoft gun reduces friction in the chamber and keeps the gun from jamming. The lube can also increase your guns muzzle velocity by 50-80 fps (varies per model).

Watch out, it looks like they are desperate to sell that can of oil to you...

Browse around on the forums and go to mechbox.com for some vids. I was unlucky to have my mechbox break, and therefore HAD to open it up. once you understand what actually goes on inside the mechbox, it's quite simple. Just requires a bit of patience. For inside the mechbox you will want to use a high quality silicone-based grease, such as Super Lube. But you don't need a ton of it. I don't think I even used any of the oil for the whole job. The oil is more what you use for GBB's and sticky mags.

check out the videos on mechbox.com for a V3 mechbox (which is the kind used in the 552). If it were my AEG, just shim it, grease it, and just replace parts when they either break or you want to enhance performance.

thanx for that ...very informative and i will check out the places you suggest ...i certainly need to know more!!....all i want to do is get it to 350fps and be able to take care of it.....i found the 2 pages at 858Airsoft on dismantling and installing the spring ...so i think i will take some of the suggestions here and get a spring and the gears and shims and the new tight bore barrel to get it to 350fps....i will do that myself(i rewire guitars for a living on the weekends}....get a couple of new 8.4 1500mA NiMH batteries...as far as the "SILICONE OIL" i use a drop every once in awile when i charge my mags with propane for my KSC M11A1 and the TM Glock26a ....but they say to use the "SILICONE SPRAY" to clean the barrel and a little squirt in the hop up , it helps to keep the bb's flying proper and increases the fps back to where it should be before it was dry and or dirty... ....now i am not debating i am just trying to be informed ....and doing the research has given me youtube vids of people cleaning the barrel with silicone SPRAY to vendors selling it ...to actual posts with detailed instructions on how to clean the barrel and the hop up with SILICONE LUBE SPRAY......again i look forward to suggestion for parts and what is and what is not necessary

Plane simple dont use oil in the barrel.

Use the rod and a clean patch and get it clean. Do that untill the patch comes out white.

Dont forget to turn you hopup off befor.

And if you are really willing to use oil in the barrel just use a clean patch and put some on it (2 to 3 drops) and repete phase 1

then after use a clean patch to wipe the excedent.

Never put oil on your hop bucking. if you effel that you have a bad hopup just change it's a 8$ peice. No oil will ever make a hop rubber work like a new one.
