MP5 RIS (MP5K Varint) changes

I have an MP5 RIS Partial metal with sliding 6 point rear stock. My battery sits like most MP5K's. (slides in the upper body and connects at the front.) Now if i wat to put the battery in (or take it out) I have to go through alot of steps:

1.) Remove sliding stock( 2 Pins Ive lost one but replaced it)
2.) Remove RIS (7 screws that I keep Stripping or losing)
3.) slide in battery
4.) connect Battery
5.) put on RIS (7 screws that I keep Stripping or losing)
6.) Put on sliding stock( 2 Pins Ive lost one but replaced it)

These steps take about 15 minutes every time i want to do something with the battery (ex: change the battery if it dies.) Also i keep wrecking or losing parts to the RIS and sliding stock everytime I want to make changes. To make it even worse I now use the metal RIS (G&G) on my mp5 as this looks nicer and made the gun more solid but the nuts on this no longer stay on the RIS so I can lose them too! I just want an easy way to make it so i dont have to keep taking the gun apart to change the battery. I dont really want to rewire the gun short of getting a battery box I dont think there is anything i can do. If anyone has any ideas on what i can do to make this easier please let me know.

A good example is something i can put the battery in that dosnt look like a large box! or maybe how to move the wires so i can charge the gun without taking out the battery or maybe some easy way to make the RIS go together that will not strip screws!

Also I was looking at placing the connector outside of the RIS (I can do this the battery wire and gun wire is just long enough) but i dont know what happens if you shoot a battery connector at 350+ fps. So if someone has a good way to hide the connector this would help too!

Lastly I wanted to change out the sliding stock to a different one. I see people taking apart there sliding stocks on an m4, anyone know if these are compatible with the mp5 sliding stock? And what mods would I need to make one of these work?

Unfortunately, there are not many options with an MP5. A battery box, or a reflex sight with a built in battery box, are probably your best options.

I know how you feel. I ended up rewiring and putting a batter box on (with the connector on the outside). I did this to make room for a mosfet though.

I am much much much happier now that I have the battery on the external.

PS: I wouldn't worry too much about a connector getting hit. Even if it does it probably won't break. If you are really worried.... leave extra wiring within the RAS so that if it breaks you can snip the broken one off and attach a new one.

Seeing as the MP5K is the V3 gearbox, I've been wondering about whether it would be a viable option for LiPo. It's smaller, and gives more juice. You'd probably have to reinforce a lot of the parts though.

The mp5k is ripe for lipo. Just put in a sorbo pad, soft piston head, titanium tooth piston, metal bushings and a good shim job.

The only thing is that from what I've been reading, lipo should only be used for higher-fps guns and most mp5ks are anywhere from 260-350 fps for indoor/cqb. "They" recommend at least 380fps to avoid stripping the shit out of the internals.

Apparently at OP Broadsword last week, Poncho was running lipo on a stock marui mp5.
Piston stripped in no time.
I also haven't seen a lipo stick that's short enough. Yet.

I will be putting my mp5k with an sp110 spring on lipo in the next little while.
Will post results.

Here is what I've figured out if I use parts from various pieces I have extra around I can probable make a raised top rail system that can hold a battery and still be low enough to put a red dot on.

This way i move the battery outside of the gun (makes the iron sights useless) but then i can put a mofet and battery and red dot sight without the gun looking extremly wierd (admit it an mp5 with a battery box looks wierd). I'll post pic's when its done then you can see what ive done and I'll list the parts i used.

Also has anyone ever used 2 batteries in a gun and used a switch to change which one is being used? If not would this work or would the switch cause too much resistance for the gun? I am trying to decide between this idea or mosfet (or maybe this idea and 2 mosfet lol). The reason for this is because the stick batteries dont last long in an mp5 so if I am going to build the above part I may look at 2 batteries with a switch so you can have twice the battery capacity and this would allow you to use 2 different battery for a diff ROF when you need it.

These are things I've been thinking about for awhile but first lets see what i can do about battery storage!

You wouldn't need a switch or anything, just put them in parallel. No voltage change but you will get double the mAh.

Yes but then they would have to be the same size and this can raise the ROF. I am more looking at longer lasting with same ROF or variable ROF. Also you couldnt remove one and lend it to someone in the field if there's died. As we know batteries sometimes die. And an extra gun on your team is always good.

but moreso i am looking for an external battery holder that dosnt look bad lol. We will look and see! Who knows maybe I can come up with a battery box that dosnt look horrible!

You could always get the battery sling that some company had, can't remember who. It was a sling that had a pouch for a battery so you could just run the wires right out the very back and then into the sling (you could make it quite inconspicuous I bet.).

You should get a large torch a la TM "pro light".
Its a torch which also acts as power source for AEPs.

Would have to modify to suit needs.

Also - why not run a wire from the rail system through a (maybe) custom hole.
Could leave your bettery in the gun for whole seasons.

Or that in parallel with the torch...

All good ideas never thought of putting it in a large flashlight that would connect ot the RIS, that may work. I though of running the wire and i can the hole is already there (holes in the RIS) I just dont know if its a good idea to have the battery connecton not gaurded may break mid game lol course all i need is to encase those hrrm... More to think about I'll come up with something!!!!

Nono - wire the battery into the gun and leave a wire in the RIS that you can connect up to to charge.

In other words: leave the battery in the gun and charge it in the gun.

If that no work, all I can say is - should have bought a large battery gun

First lol!!! What i meant was that i have done that the battery is in the gun the connection that connects it to the gun is currently outside the ris (it was just long enough) but what i dont like is red and black wire sticking out of my RIS and a tamy connector there too lol.

See im going for a completly natural looking gun. I dont want things that dont seem right on the gun (I am being picky!) cause everyone has a look they want to achieve. As far as larger guns I also own a M249 and a M4A1 so no problem there I bought this cause I liked the look. You dont see too many mp5's with a m4 6 point sliding stock and RIS in sask. This will also be my CQB gun so a light was a great idea as i need one anyway and I am trying to keep away from bulky things as i need this gun to stay small.

Although I think i found the solution. I found a light that looks nice and i have a small black metal tube about the same size (slightly larger so the back of the light can fit inside. I think I will place the light in the tube (which will have a small section cut out for the tamy's) this way it just looks like part of the gun and keeps the connectors safe. I will definitely need to JB weld the inside I will know more once i get the email back on the light (Needs to be metal to JB it.) The light will already attach to the RIS so as long as i dont block that this should work perfectly. Thanks for the brainstorming help!
