No more legal than taking apart a legal gun and bringing it in piece by piece. You're trying to get around declaring it.

If you have to take it apart and sneak it in, of course it's not ok.

No.

Just because it's in pieces doesn't make it any less a replica.

You can bring in some of the parts.

But the receiver will get stopped. So you'll be left with a bunch of parts.

And you would have just committed the offense of importing a replica firearm without a license to do so.

If you can't bring it in one piece you can't bring it in pieces ...

The thing is the whole gun isn't restricted. It's the receiver of the gun. When you take it apart you'll have a bunch of bits, screws, the barrel and receiver. You can take everything EXCEPT the receiver over legally. However, then you're just left with a bunch of parts...

Sounds like you intend to smuggle it regardless of what anyone says ... so I don't think is prudent for anyone to give you instructions as to how it can be accomplished.

You are not allowed to import replica firearms into Canada at all unless you are licensed to do so.

It would be pointless to disassemble the gun and leave behind the part that makes it a gun... so obviously that is not your intention.

Asking for advise as to how you can skirt the regulations is not the intended purpose of this site and certainly not the purpose of this section of the forum

Take the advise offered above and purchase the gun already imported... at least that way you won't get nabbed for smuggling.

so disassembling and declaring each piece of an item that, in it's fully assembled form is illegal to import suddenly makes it legal? are you hearing yourself?

It's not even the firing mechanism. It's the actual body of the gun. It varies from gun to gun and I don't know what it is for an L96 but wherever the serial number on a real one would go, you can't bring that part in. Since the L96's body is pretty much one big piece, I'm willing to bet it's that one.

Why don't you just buy it from a Canadian site and save yourself the trouble.
