JG M4 S-system 09

So, a couple of days ago, after a good bit of research, I finally got myself an AEG, that being a 2009 JG M4 S-system. Supposedly shooting around 400 fps out of the box with a version 3 gear box. Reading around on the forums, I got the impression that I need some upgrading, though all the forums don't have the 09 version of the gun. If anyone can give me help with some links, it would be much appreciated, and remember I'm as new as it gets with dealing in AEGs. Thanks.

M4's use a version 2 mechbox, for your information.

yup all M4's are V2. 400 is the limit in most places if it were my gun I'd throw a 90 spring in there but that's it. It's your first gun use it til it breaks then fix/upgrade what is needed.

I said "supposedly", I know 08 versions use version 2 but I read around and some websites said 09s use a version 3, thanks for the clear up though... and for lack of a better word I said upgrade, what I really want is durability and accuracy.

So I'm thinking a 363mm Madbull V.2 barrel with a 6.03mm bore, and a Systema metal Hop Up unit for a M16 with a Systema Hop Up bucking, will these fit in my gun?

Also... I know nothing about mechboxes and there is not an airsmith or even a hoby shop in the area so do I need to do anything about my mechbox? Help is appreciated and thanks.

For the gundoc, fill up your information (in the User CP).

About the airsoft, I suggest you to downgrade the spring. If you got the new JG black gearbox you will need it cause it will break soon. A m130 is too much for this airsoft

Maybe it's written v3 on this site, but they seem to mean JG Generation 3 (and not version 3 gearbox).

In short, it's a V2 gearbox, just the 2009 edition.

And seems you're in USA, so it's probably relativly easy for you to have a look on ASR or other local forums to find local games and players to help you out.

I haven't really tried there truthfully, ASC just seemed like a more active and helpful community... but thanks for the help.

If you don't mind can you post a picture of the mechbox? Just for my peace of mind. Close attention to the cut-off lever especially.

Because a Version 3 gearbox running in an M4 following the Sig 552 design will make me wet myself

It's a V2, not a V3.
