Upgrading my echo 1 m16(after losing my kwa m4)
Ok so here's the deal, I was charging my lipoly battery yesterday, i followed all the insturctions and all of a sudden the thing blows up and my gun was next to it so i had to drench the gun and battery to put the fire out. The front part of my gun is charred and melted, we r suing the battery company and we have a police/fire marshal report on OUR side.
So now i am stuck with my broken down Echo 1 m16 with a 9.6 3600 mah battery, a $100 green laser, a tightbore barrel and half of a kwa m4... I was wondering, would it be possible to take the gearbox and motor out of the m4 and put it in the m16 along with the metal body(the echo1s body is connected to the stock by electical tape because there was a crack).and would i get the same ROF as before? |

PS: How were you charging the lipo? What brand was it? What charger were you using? And why were you charging a lipo in your gun? |

A minor, using dad's ID

Wow....that's crazy. With the motor, there might be fitting issues because it's a different gun most likely with different modeled bodies, but if all of it fits properly it should be the same.

it was a rydelek and it came with a "smart charger" and no i wasnt charging it inside of the gun, but the gun was 2 feet away and the explosion caused the gun to fall on the fire

I can't find that brand anywhere. Could you provide a source for where you bought it?

Just a heads up you'll need to prove that you were charging it 100% right, they'll even say it was your fault for not checking it every 5 minutes to make sure it wasn't getting hot (I always do that, Lipos can be dangerous when they get hot)

Some companies even state that you have to charge outside in a fireproof area and have a chemical extinguisher on hand. They really do cover their asses (and rightly so... giving the public lithium is just dangerous).

it came with no warning and nothing about a fireproof case or fire extinguisher

And onw more question, will the gearbox still work if it got wet?

Sure. Some springs like the safety lever's spring, cutoff latch spring, anti reversal latch spring, and trigger spring could oxidize and crack... but people play in the rain all of the time. Give it the hairdryer treatment before you install it in the new body and it'll work till it breaks. Then you just buy new springs... $10 + shipping for a set I believe.
